I too purchased my first Nikon “nikkormat” with the 50mm f1.4, about 51 years ago.
Since then, except for Hasselblad, I have used nikons, exclusively.
I still have all of my nikons and my hasselblads.
And, so amazingly, even after 50 plus years, every camera in my collection works, and most look like new.
Although, my collection does include other brands, the nikons and hasselblads, are the ones that I used.
The others are for historical reasons.

I bought my first 35 mm camera in 1970. the Nikkormat FTN with 50mm 1.4 Nikkor lens. About 2 years later I had a friend that owned a camera store and someone traded in a Nikon FTN with a 28mm, 105mm f2.5 and a 200mm f4,
He sold them to me for $500. I still have them all. I use the 50mm with an adapter on my Lumix m4/3.

Amen to old lenses. I use 40+ year old Nikkor 50 mm 1.4, & my 105mm 2.5 with my Lumix micro 4/3 camera. It is a little harder to focus manually when the eyes are not what they once were, but the fast lenses are great when you need them or want their effects.

the Lumix m43 system are a mirroless DSLR. You see the image through the rangefinder & in my case in an articulating 3" screen.

I have been using m4/3 for about 2 years. I have the Lumix G1 with the 14-45mm & 45-200mm & Ilove that they are small & light compared to the full size Nikon/Cannons. I have several old Nikon manual lenses that I can use with an adapter if I want a faster lens. I use them sparingly as my old eyes are not what they use to be & the weight of the old lensed almost negate the size of the camera.

I am very happy with the picture quality of the Lumix system.

Look on Ebay for the Metabones adapter. They had many different combinations. The one that I bought was for Nikon/ m4/3 is well made & costs about $75. B&H may have an adapter for you as well.

I am using old Nikkor manual lenses with my Lumix G1 with an Metabones adapter. I am getting very satisfactory results. The focus is manual, but that is what I am use to. I am new to DSLR's & it gives a a lot more versatility with & speed with my old lenses. The 50mm 1.4 give me a very fast short telephoto/portrait lenses. The 105mm 2.5 gives me a fast medium telephoto lenses & so on.
