I am looking for suggestions for a good place to have my camera repaired in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Shooting basketball last night and my focusing system just went crazy. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks. Bob Betzel

CHG_CANON-I usually find your posts are well thought out and helpful, but you are moving to the pushbacks. Is there an answer in your reply?? If you want to become my financial advisor, I'll pass! Or maybe you are all knowing and have special knowledge of each of the members financial situations! I would hope the questions on this site are read and answers are given but we always have a few who think they are omniscient. No thanks!

I expect pushback for this question, but I have been shooting sports for about 20 years and I know each time I upgrade I definitely find an improvement in my photography. I know it is said it is the photographer not the equipment, but I certainly don't completely agree! I also know that people have allegiance to a specific camera, but I was a Canon shooter, from 20D to 7D to 7Dii and then got a wild hare and my most recent purchase was a Sony A9 when it first came out having decided to go mirrorless rather than a 1D. I know nothing is perfect but what is best in your opinion? But now every camera company is pushing into mirrorless, and I see competition and I would appreciate what people consider Best as to sports photography as it is becoming less cut and dry. The question may be what you are looking for and for me it is catching and holding focus as what I find is the kids are getting faster than me. The A9 is very good but is there better?

I received a notice from them and was told I had to pay or they could downgrade and the pictures would be fine for Facebook, etc. and there would be no charge.

If you are getting free unlimited storage the resolution is being considerably downgraded.

I'm still banging my head against the wall and now am leaning toward the 100/400 but wish it had the internal zoom like the 70/200 & 200/600. Do you have any problems with the moving zoom? Thanks!

I guess I have honestly been affected by paralysis by analysis and have decided my first step will be an extender/teleconverter 2.0 to use on my 70/200. Reviews appear to be pretty positive in that it will make my 2.8 70/200 a 5.6 140/400. I plan to try it in shooting softball starting in February so I will watch this post and let you know how this works.

Has anyone used these lenses on a Sony A9 and have thoughts on them. I was about to buy the 100-400 when the 200-600 came out and now see positives for my use with both in sports. Since buying the A9 I have been pleased with the 70-200 but want more reach but probably not in the 400 to 600 range. I wish the 100-400 had internal zoom like the 200-600. I would appreciate all input. Thanks!

I set up a preset so long ago that I just wonder if I could do better. Most of the presets I have deal with non-moving objects and I think my setup may be lacking as you see the “pros” pictures that are so vivid and I’d like access to possibilities. I wrestle with all the adjustments and question if the combinations just don’t work together. I understand and accept the limitations of sport photography in less than ideal conditions but am looking for a source that could direct me to sports presets.

I have been using Lightroom for processing RAW files and am wondering what is being used by sports photographers. A number of years ago I set up a preset but am wondering if their are specific ones in the market specifically for our needs such as high ISO, etc. Any input will be appreciated.

Yes there are tons of a lot of stuff on the internet but I hope there are some on this forum that can give me honest first hand use experience. Digging through all of the self-serving or advertising videos really doesn't give much insight. I have looked at way too much and need to decide on Canon 1DXii versus the A9 and only a true user can let me know. It is still early for Sony but I don't want to invest more in Canon when the future may now be here.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who owns this new camera (Sony A9) and has had a chance to put it through its paces. I know that with a new camera there are always bugs that the company will have to address but my main interest is the overall picture that is produced. Is the auto focus and resolution as good as it is advertised in action shots and are the available Sony lenses up to use on what is being sold as a new professional camera on the market which is to compete with the top end of Canon and Nikon. Thanks!
