I thought this could help some of us who live on a fixed budget & tend to look for a inexpensive solutions. My wife & I when we go out to shoot needed a couple of bags to carry our tripods & mono-pods. I found the long nylon bags used to store folding metal & nylon camp or beach chairs works if tripod not to big. All that I have seen have a shoulder strap & some kind of draw string to close it at the top.

Not much protection on the bottom, so I cut a 1/2" round disc of foam, stuffed it to the bottom. Later I realized my ball head needed some protection from banging around. If you have any foam drink 'Koozies" you can use one to place over the head.

Also, I use the koozies to cover my smaller lens. They protect my lens from banging against each other. May seem like a tight fit but they do stretch & get easier to pull on after use.
Not as pretty as the 'LensCoat' people make & sell but still work. Every time I go to a trade show I grab a bunch of free ones at the booths. Hope this info can help & save you a few buck.

First, I want to thank all of you who posted your answers to my request for info. I'm 71 so my PC skill set is somewhat at a lower level then a lot of UHH members, and yes, I did ask this question awhile back. But after reading the answers and downloading all the software on the Canon CD, I only got more confused.

I use my laptop for 80% word processing,10% for internet use & the other 10 for photo storage & simple editing. I know it's time to upgrade to a newer PC. (working on it) As you all strongly suggest, I'm looking around for an external drive, I see they start about $60 for a one terabyte unit. That should be enough to take of all my needs. Thanks again for your help.

I have an older Laptop w/Vista OS.2008. it came w/ Windows Photo Gallery, and another place you could click on -"Pictures". I was still doing film & would have my pics put on a CD & transfer to my PC. That's 2 locations I now have photos. Then my wife went digital & showed me how I could use Picasa to do simple edits & adjustments on my photos. I downloaded it -now I have 3 location of pics. I tried to delete the ones on Win. Photo Gal. but they also disappeared from my Picasa files. So I panicked & left it alone. I had about 1,200 shots saved, so with 3 storage areas= 3,600 photos.

So forward to 2015, I've gone digital. Love it, taking lots of pictures. Yea! My Canon Ti-3 came with soft wear for editing etc. I downloaded it. Now I have four places where, my 1,800 photos are stored. Yikes, 1,800 x 4=7,200 images on my PC.

So I want to know -DO I NEED ALL THOSE OTHER STORAGE SITES & can I safely get rid of them?

tried to find the answer elsewhere, had no luck. A member. UHH for 2 yrs. just never wanted to bother any one with this question. Thank wbg

Greetings from New Bern, NC. we're about 35 miles from the beach. Both wife & I are photo buffs & take day photo trips to the beach area. Besides one of the best Aquarium on the east coast & the Fort they have a couple of fishing piers which are fun to walk out & see what people are catching.
Cross over the bridge back to the mainland & you'll find Beaufort ( pronouced Bow-ford) a very old seaport town. They have the Maritime museum with Blackbeard, the pirate, ship Queen Ann's Revenge.
Also, You can only get there by ferry but near by Shackelford banks has over 200 wild horses that live on the island.Great chance to get some really special photos.
Lots of other choices in the area. Best to stop at visitors center in Morehead city to get lots of ideas. Hope this helps. wbGiorgio

When I 1st got my PC all my film photos were saved on a CD & transfered to Windows Photo Gallery. They also showed up in a file titled Pictures. A couple years later, I downloaded Pacasa for more editing choices.
Now I have a new Canon digital camera, I downloaded the software that came w/ the camera. It tranfered all the shots from the Picture file, not from Picasa, (which I would have perferred.)
Question is-- do I still need all the pictures in the other 3 file locations & what happens if I remove all the pictures from the W.P.G. & Picasa programs. wbg

Hello all, Found this forum to be very helpful for anyone at any level. Wife & I both love photography. I was still shooting film up to last year but wife let me use her digital SLR for 3 days and I was hooked. We both have them now.
Like to pack up all our stuff & just take off to explore new places for pics. Giorgio
