Depending on what I am doing to a photo, I use Gimp or another freebie named IrfanView.

Cute. I started waaaay back in the 1980's or so with an 8-bit Atari, then a PC, then several hardware platforms later I'm running Win8.1 on two SSHD laptops and Win7 on a desktop PC with 214 (according to my RevoUninstall program) available and installed program on my HDs. I have had a Tamron 18-270 for about 3 years now, used it on a D5100, D7000 and a D7100, it gives excellent results with all three cameras. I still have it, and would still be using it if I had not just bought a Nikon 18-300. The Tamron is much lighter and more compact than the big Nikon, so it is easier to use, but the extra reach of the 300 was calling me.
