In January of 2014 I purchased my first Tamron lens a 24-70 f2.8 on Amazon. I loved the lens but recently had a mishap when, it dropped from my tripod in its lowest position, 26" and broke off at the lens mount, the 4 Phillips screws pulled out of the lens body and severed the electrical ribbon. I was devastated and put the thing back together again, using the 4 screws in the same holes; they seemed to go in tight but I know the drop stripped out of the holes. The lens works fine in manual focus but I still wanted it repaired and sent it to Tamron for non warranty repair.

They rejected it and say, they do not repair grey market lenses, they told me the lens is a genuine Tamron lens made at a Tamron facility, but their policy is stated on the website and they will not touch it, other than send it back to me.

I am very upset by this policy and I told them I would never buy another Tamron product. They told me Nikon and Canon have the same policy but I know this is not true because Canon told me they have a case by case basis policy. I told them I was not looking for a warranty repair but Tamron says it does not matter.

So does anyone know if there is a repair facility that will take this lens?
