Accelerator, you and I sound a lot alike. I'm glad Nikon is sending you a 610.On the flip side I tried cleaning a sensor ONCE on a Fujifilm S2Pro. I somehow knocked it out of alignment and paid dearly for that experiment, and me being like you, I'd have driven to Long Island and shoved the body up their A%$es and told them to give me a new body right now.

Looks like you made a good choice on the body. Photo's are great. NICE JOB !!!!!!! However with the spokes " Frozen" you lose the sense of speed. If you experiment and slow down the shutter you'll get more background and spoke blur which gives you the sense of speed.

Tom:
If you are using a newer version of Photoshop it has a red eye reduction built in. I think it's by the eraser tools. I think some of the other software's IE paint shop pro etc have it...... If not you can use your PP software and "Paint Brush" in some color. you can usually adjust the brush size to fit. then change to WHITE and put a dot where the pupil should be.

Thanks Don, The site needs a lot of work as I just dump them in without PP I know I should as the final results would be better, and what you saw wasn't even close to what I have digital let alone the film stuff.

Ok Rich Here's a story. 1st of all I get long winded Please bear with me.
I get this hair brained idea I want to do something for the track I'm shooting @ on a weekly basis to be given to the track @ their awards banquet. So I come up with the idea to do the "All Champion's composite".Well there's no way in hell I'm gonna get all 6 of them to do a shoot. so I find an image{as of this post I can't find the EXACT 1 I used} However it only had 1 sprinter in it. I have in my mind the finished product which is attached to the post. So I start with the sprinter{the one with the wing} I'm measuring with a ruler so the one I cloned out matches the one I put in perfectly. then I realize that the other 5 cars have different wheelbases...Uh oh !!! so I start by measuring a friends sprinter, then I start getting phone #s to call people to get measurements of their cars so all the proportions match. I'm cutting the cars I need out of other photo's blowin em up to like 400% just to cut out the garbage from the original photo so you can't tell it's been cut out, Etc Etc Etc, after about 150 hours, all this tedious work I get the final product. Then off to my buddy's photo lab so he can convert it from digital to photo to make me the print I need and then off to the banquet. I did 06-09 and each year was different.

Thanks John. However viewing it @ 24" it's really pretty good.99% of the text is ok, but my issue was with the contrastiness of it.If I had a good known image to view I could get it all dialed in. This tv has tons of settings to adjust. I just needs a little tweaking here and there. But I get your point. I had my choice of a 1080P or a 720P the 720 was horrible and opted for the 1080.

IMHO you don't need Super fast glass to get a shallow DOF.

Ok gang
My HP 22" monitor took a dump after 5 years. So instead of getting a " " monitor I opted for a 24" Vizio smart tv as they say it can be used as a PC monitor.I have a Spyder 3 Elite with updates to calibrate the monitor and the setup to cal a printer also.{ big bucks spent} However when it's all done the text is a little fuzzy and it seems to be contrasty,The Blues in Office outlook,Facebook seem harsh.Does anyone know of where online you can get a grey card/calibration set. to download so I can see it on the monitor/ TV to be able to make the adjustments. I do have tons of photo's but they might be soft here and there or contrasty, etc.
Any help greatly appreciated.

OK here's the story.
I was the track photog at what was then called Susquehanna Speedway. In 1997 we had a new owner,as the previous 5 Musketeers wanted out. The new owner has his hand picked crew, and at the beginning of '08 he asked me to be an "onTrack Official".So instead of huntin people down for money, I was gonna get paid to be there. Anyhow on the 1st lap of the 1st Qualifying Heat,as the field was going by me, I ended up on my ass, stars, birdies, you name it I was seein it. They threw the red cause they saw I was down. The Paramedic asked all the questions { which I passed} .As I'm walkin it off I don't remember who sez, "your headset's broke" so I look and inside of whats left of the earcup is a ............ Lugnut. It flew off someones car, hit the left earcup, knocked it clean off, didn't hurt me, and I got "Lugnut" It and some small other parts { Dzus Buttons} accompany me to every race I go to.Kept in my right front pocket.

Somehow I found this forum off a link on Facebook. I thought it would be a nice place to hang out and bounce idea's off of each other, after we can all learn or get a different perspective in the artforn we are all here for.

My birth name is Ed however I'm more known in the circles I travel as "Lugnut" It's a story for another time as to how I got it. My life's passion { since I was a little kid} has been Dirt track Auto racing. As I got out of Puberty and into Adulthood, and a failed marrage I got my chance to get involved from the "inside".What a blast !!!! I've worked on,Built Drove, sweated all over Dirt modifieds. The stories I could tell, and the laughs we had. After Marrage #2 went up in smoke, and being bored to death I decided to get into Photography.Again my passion was Auto racing.I went from getting a mortgage to pay the processing bills ,to buying my 1st used darkroom, to upgrading equipment, countless hours "in the dark" to now being able to sit in my livingroom with the tv going in the background editing images.
So there you have it. Let's have some fun and help each other out .

To the Author, rpavich Excelent point. My "Go to Guide"is a book published many years ago called the 35 MM handbook. Written by Michael Langford. Even though we are now in the digital age,It still serves it's purpose,to educate and understand how this artform we call photography works. You also make a very valid point as to "why to you need fast glass"? Those of us {ME} use fast glass because I,WE are motorsports photographers, we need the " Fast Glass" because in our environment the lighting conditions aren't the greatest, and most times we push our Normans or in my case Lumedynes to the 400 WS limit. Yes there are my comrades who use shoe mounted flash units and are pushing their ISO's to 1250 or above, however when they are spending their time dealing with the NOISE issue,I'd prefer to learn how to use photoshop better than I do.
