It wasn't easy took some time to make a good selection around the head...
You can do it in different ways:
1e you make a copy from the BG layer work on that....
Make a selection with the pen tool or with the lasso..
Then create a new layer on top and color it in with black , erase parts that don't look good...
2e
you can make a selection with the mask tool , mask the area you want to keep Green ) , invert it and paint it black...or mask the selection you want to have black , erase that , copy the selection on to a new black background and adjust it....by erasing or cloning...

This image you put up now is more difficult because you need to have the lose hair in there , making a selection is done best by masking...
Give it a try your self, it's the best way to learn.....

Ah .............. it's a jpeg, some would say it's processed, but I know what your saying ......

I noticed some interesting settings .......

Not being critical, just know the camera is capable of doing better than what you shared ...... practice makes perfect

Though I will say I love the water drops on pix #2, makes it interesting

i think i had the camera about a week when i took those, any suggestions on settings would be appreciated! thanks
