I just wanted to test the lighting in a local mall was just shooting a couple of test shots and was told by security not to. Someone later told me shooting public transportation can land you in jail. Hope the birds don't have lawyers yet.

I printed some photos at Costco and the color was way off. I was told I need to calibrate my monitor. I am seeing a lot of people are using spyder4 they have different cost. Guess I am confused about this. I have been reading and lot and it still doesn't make sense. Do I need to spend $ 300 to accomplish getting excellent colors on printing? Thank you

We purchased the D7100 and got the 105mm 2.8 fixed for macro. Really a super combination. The D7100 we think is a wonderful camera and are contemplating buying another. Have fun and enjoy!

My partner and I use the Nikon 105mm 2.8 and have just so much fun with it. I really wasn't into macro photography boy did that change when we got our lens. There are so many tips and techniques to have fun with. Enjoy! There is a lot for free on YouTube also.

My partner and I went from a P510 to a D7100 about 6 months ago we are having so much fun with it. I'm not sure about other brands but I have learned if you want really sharp photos invest in good glass. (lens) Have fun!!

That makes sense to use single point focus. Something to experiment around with. It is always a learning experience when you go to a new place and shoot new things. Which is why I think photography is so great. Thank you all for your comments on this.

That is where your auto focus on your camera doesn't. It keeps jumping and won't lock in on your subject you are photographing. In this case the small movement of the butterflies was the culprit I believe and I as a result shot with manual focus since I'm not sure how or if you can correct this. It will do the same thing if there isn't enough contrast an example is some white flowers. The camera basically gets confused. Hope this explains it for you. I'm still a work in progress! Because of the paths I was actually greater than 20 inches when I used the 0.5m-Infinity setting. I didn't realize that the movement of the wings would keep it hunting. Some of the shots they were perfectly still and still had more usual hunting. Thank you that gives me a little better understanding of how this works. You can study and study and still not know very much. Part the enjoyment of the journey.

Hi, I am using a D7100 with a 105mm 2.8 lens. I went to a butterfly exhibit yesterday I was using aperture priority as well as manual and I got a lot of hunting on auto focus. I had camera and lens both set to auto and adjusted the lens to limit distance and still had a lot of issues with hunting. I can't figure out why. I ended switching to manual focus and it was ok. I haven't had this issue with this setup before any ideas? Also does white balance affect this I had it tried cloudy and full sun as the lighting was a bit tricky. Thank you.

I think anyone with integrity and a real goal for this countries future won't run for the presidency with the insane scrutiny they are put through for the office. The country is too fractured for a grass root candidate to succeed so we end up with the choice of two poor candidates which are bought and paid for anyway. Our problems are so systemic in this country one person can not change what took so many years to manifest.

200mm macro lens that must be like lead! What would you consider a good mono-pod. I could see where shorter would be better in most cases. Thanks

My wife and I shoot macro with a 105mm Nikon lens and a d7100 camera. It is a bit heavy for her and we do have a tri-pod but I think the monopod would be faster to setup. I was wondering if anyone is using a monopod for macro shooting and what there thoughts are on this. Is it stable enough to use manual focus is one question I have. Also what would be a good one for this type of shooting if it does work? Thank you
