Awesome photos. What equipment did you use. I spent some time last week taking some photos and they would never sit still. I had a hard time freezing them using flash.
I know most of the country was freezing last week, but I shot these photos of 2 hummingbirds in Southern California. They are so small and so fast that even using a flash it was very difficult to freeze their motion. It was either too dark to focus properly or there was too much ambient light to freeze the the motion with the flash. Out of dozens of images, these two were the only ones that seemed sharp enough. These were taken using a Nikon D5100, AF-S Nikkor 55-300 1:4.5-5.6 G ED. Using an old SB-28 strobe on manual.
Yes, the worst one that I have done a couple of times is turning on the Neutral Density filter on my G10 to get the shutter speed to slow down in bright light and later be taking pictures in dim conditions and wondering why the ISO is so high and the shutter speeds are so slow. Very good point to remember to set everything back to basics before you put it away.
