Thanks! I hope my update worked and stored the original. There are no RAW images available.

If you have FM, would you be willing to run the following images and see what you get?
Thanks,
Lou
This photo looked nice to me until I downloaded. Then - suddenly - it looked remarkable! WOW!! That is a fantastic shot!

I Love these photos, Bruce!

Thanks, everyone. Our trip to KC got delayed a bit, but we will definitely be headed that way soon. I truly do appreciate all the replies.

What is photographer's night?? It is a night reserved strictly for photographers! It can be crowded, but everyone is seriously trying to take good photos. No crying kids. No pushing adults. It is very nice. You can even take your tripod! Hubs and I plan to go. I will private message you the info.

I like the last one best. The lighting is nice and the photo is very good. The first photo has too many shadows on the girl's face. I think fill light would have helped or maybe repositioning the young lady. Second one is very good, but a bit dark. Reflected light would have helped a great deal. I think it was the next to last one that I really, really didn't like because the teeth and eyes are too white. That is definitely one of my pet peeves. Just my 0.02.
Lou Ellen
Are you planning to go to photographer's night this year?
Lou Ellen
I will be travelling through Kansas City and St. Louis soon. I know St. Louis has a lot to photograph, but wondering what else is a 'must-see' in these areas.
Lou Ellen
Yes, but I'm not telling.

Couple of suggestions . . . I like where your main light is, but personally would like the "rim" light to be further back, a little higher, and maybe half as much power. Think increasing your contrast in camera with greater difference in power from the second or third lights.
The goal in portraiture is to make it look like there was only one light source . . . like in nature . . . only one sun. The additional lights should be fill and not be obvious as a second light source. As for the pose . . . your hand looks too large and would be better on the other side of the face, not obscuring part of the face.
If I was just learning portrait lighting I would probably take my first hundred shots with only one light until I mastered the angle, intensity, distance from subject, etc. . . . then and only then would I add additional fill or rim lights.
Just my nickles worth. (used to be three pennies worth, but in Canada, no more pennies . . . everything is being rounded up)
