I use Sawyer Insect Repellent Permethrin Spray, available on Amazon. Have not had any issues.
There are Permethrin pretreated clothing brands out there, but costly.

There are at least a dozen lighthouses along the West Michigan shore. Most are easy to access, a couple are not as easy. This one is a bit hard to find, but easy to access.
