Most of the time, the difference is not going to noticeable. It's probably most important in regard to printing, but I doubt you'll see a difference using either one. I've switched to Adobe, because I use Lightroom and Photoshop. Most displays and printers (all I think) do not cover the full color gamut of either.

Lightroom and Photoshop are constantly updated and improved, so they've been around for awhile, but always at the leading edge of photo editing. Also, it's very easy to find out how to do things in either just by Googling the topic. You can always find a simple explanation and free tutorials that answer your questions. That may well be the best reason to use Adobe products.

For landscape photography, I don't believe a tripod is necessary. It used to be that with a long lens, tripods were recommended. But with the higher ISO's possible with digital, you generally don't need a tripod unless you're shooting with a extremely long or heavy lens, 800 mm or longer. I have a 100-400, and never use a tripod for normal shots. I see many people shoot up to 600 mm hand held.

I use a tripod for long exposures (night sky, waterfalls, etc) and close up macro photography where I manually focus multiple shots and focus stack them.

Certainly for your lens set, I don't see why you need a tripod.

Also, it is a lot better, IMHO, to post process the photo in color and then make it B&W.

People shoot in RAW because of the extra dynamic range you get with it. That is true whether you are shooting in color or B&W. A RAW image has all the information the camera sensor is able to provide (including color), whereas a JPEG loses some of the information. So if you post processing a JPEG image you are dealing with less information than if you are post processing a RAW image. The Canon monochrome picture style is very powerful because it lets you apply filters that emulate what was done with film B&W shooting. And you can apply these filters as you are shooting (example a red filter) or in DPP as you see fit AFTER you shoot the image AS LONG as you shoot in RAW.

I don't believe that is the case. I say this because of the ease of conversion in DPP between picture styles. That wouldn't be possible if monochrome was any different that any other picture style. Monochrome is just another picture style to Canon. I don't know why more people are not using DPP, considering it's duplication of picture style settings of the camera and it's general ease of use. I find Adobe Camera Raw difficult to use because of the infinite range of adjustments. In DPP you can pick a picture style then make further fine adjustments as you see fit. I do sometimes use Elements for some editing after I convert to JPEG in DPP-- like when I do spot editing to remove a blemish, etc.

When you shoot RAW, the color info is included regardless if your camera picture style is set to monochrome. DPP understands the Canon picture style, whereas Adobe does not, so in Elements it comes out as color. In fact in DPP, you can set the camera picture style to monochrome and convert back to color in DPP. One of the reasons I like DPP is the close duplication of picture styles. You can shoot in any picture style and convert to any other in DPP.

I bought the 6D body at B&H in NYC a couple of weeks ago for $1573. They told me it was also available online for that price. Although I see it listed for $1899 but maybe at checkout it comes out to $1573.

The Amazon price has been fluctuating up and down by about $100 since January. The body alone is $2000, with a 2% rewards bonus.

I bought the 6D body only at B&H in NYC for $1573 a couple of weeks ago. They were also selling 6D + 24-105L lens for $2499. I had it shipped home and paid no taxes.
