Yep. The best cheap tripod is the one you DON'T buy.
You never need triple redundancy... until you DO.

You can register equipment with the customs office before you leave. The paper you get is good for future trips.
That covers you if they suspect you bought the goods overseas. It wouldn't protect you if they suspected you were bringing something illegal in ON your computer or cards. These are paranoid times, in and out of government.
I've never had a problem and I suspect the "average" traveler would not. You'd probably have to do something to trigger their suspicions. (Which these days might not be too hard.)
But doesn't this leave you with just one copy of your pics?
These are really wonderful. Ya done good!
For real compactness, try the Sony TX-30.
Since I already have an iPad Mini I just added a 1T Seagate wifi drive. Pretty much sets me up for a trip of indefinite length.
I have no doubt you will love the MBP. A good choice, indeed!
Why a PM? Let us all hear. :)
I getcha now. You are using the phone/tablet mains charger to charge it, not the tablet or phone itself. I suppose it requires an adaptor to make the connection? If it works like that then it would be a great-- even lighter!-- way to go.
Thanks for the tip.
Sounds like a good idea, Izzy, and would probably be great for backups when you have a computer at hand. But I don't see it working for my purposes. I want to leave the laptop at home and go light.
But it needs power. I know my iPad2 will not power a thumb drive. I suspect the same of the Mini, but haven't tried it. Just wondering where the power comes from. How do YOU use it? Work flow?
Izzy, if you don't want to carry a computer, what do you plug it in to?
Thanks, speters. I hope so, too!
To be clear, this unit creates its own wifi network, so there are no cords between it and the Mini. It also comes with a USB 3.0 connector so it can be connected to a computer. Some functions, like deleting files, have to be done with the drive connected to a computer.
