I have RRS equipment and it is expensive. But what is important to me is when I have called I get an individual who is personable and knows his product line and I get an answer. If they are typical of the employees, it is a great company with good people.

I am trying to take photos of old family photographs. The problem is the photos are framed and the glass covering is convex. The photos/frames are probably between 80 and 100+ years old. I do not want to remove photos from frames for fear of damaging either the frame or photos. Is there a way to either photograph the photos without glare or to remove the glare using Photoshop?

I have a Nikon 200-400 mm lens with a 2x teleconverter and find the only way I can get sharp photos is a combination of high shutter speed,a remote trigger release, and a very stable tripod. If I forget the remote, I will use timer on camera to trigger (which isn't suitable for birds/wildlife unless they are very still) I would be interested in knowing your shutter speed and whether you used auto or manual focus and where your focus point was. You may want to try the combo on a stationary object with little to no background and see if you have same problem

I have a D300S and recently purchased a D800E. There is a learning curve and I think some requirements to using a D800 effectively such as : 1) Use the very best lens (I have all Nikon pro lens) 2) Use a tripod where possible or monopod 3) take an extra second to check the focus before shooting 4) keep the aperture at f/11 or larger
The D800E has to me has extremely good high iso performance and is heads and shoulders above the D300S in this category. The sharpness of photos is outstanding when compared to the D300S and I am very happy with performance of D300S.
