As you probably know, Affinity is a Serif product. I use a Mac, but for one reason or the other I switched to a PC and discovered how nice Serif products are and when I switched back to Mac my only regret was not being able to take their software with me. Three cheers for Serif! If you are a PC user you might look at Serif Photo. It may have much of the functionality Affinity does. That being said, Affinity is pretty amazing!
Yes and
Aperture 3.5 and Photoshop Elements 12
You can open a jpeg in PSE 12 as a "RAW File". This I would imagine only gives you a higher degree of control over what you already have available in the jpeg format. Nice but no substitute for a data rich RAW file.
Thanks for your thoughtfulness in replying. I checked your link out, but it turns out to be what I had already tried. There must be some other hidden preference that needs to be set. Funny that PSE 9 works, but 12 doesn't want to.
Here is a screen shot of the path to the Twain Plug-in in my iMac. This is how I believe Adobe suggested to configure it, but nothing. Maybe it is all about the "correct" steps to install and how and when and where to connect and install things.
Path to Twain plug in?
As far as I can tell I have done everything. Should the twain plugin be inside of the module folder or outside?
I can scan with PSE 9 but not 12. Everything seems ok in the Preferences too. Are you using OSX 10.9 Mavericks
Computers are frustrating for sure. I don't have any problem printing from PSE 12. Scanning is what won't work for me. It continues to work in PSE 9 but not 12. Even the Adobe gurus gave up! It is like a game and the winner gets to play. I have always loved Adobe products and especially Photoshop. They have just lost their way on customer service. :-(
Has anyone had trouble scanning using elements 12. The import pick is grayed out for me. I have tried moving the Import-Export Folder to the Plug-in folder but the Import commandos still greyed out. I can scan using their software, but miss the convenience of scanning directly from Photoshop Elements.
Thanks for the detailed info. I checked out your site and the Pix are awesome!
I will look into the focus motor issue. I knew that was a function that could be found in the lens or camera body, but am so green I didn't know it would make a difference. I will look into it.
Thanks!
I used to have a Nikon F with a 1.4f 50mm lens which I used for just about everything. As stand alone lens would the 85mm fulfill the same function. I'm wanting to get a DSLR and was looking at the Nikon D5200 and the variety of lenses that are available is overwhelming. Being able to zoom is appealing. I considered the 18 to 300mm but wondered what I might be giving up. I'm just looking for a camera and lens combination that will offer good quality and some versatility.
