Looks like you have some great recommendations for what you need to pack to shoot some photos. As an aside, if you end up in Fairbanks as part of your land package, check out www.travellingalaska.com for things to do, restaurants, gift ideas. I set up this site as a community service project following my trips to visit my son. It is designed for travelers who only have a few days in this location. Safe and happy travels!
Got my answer re. tutorial. A lurking marketing program... :)
Thanks! Good to know. Did you inset the tutorial for Lightroom 5 below your response box, or is that some marketing company picking up key words to find sales leads? :)
I am an amateur photographer interested in upgrading from IPhoto; is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 a good choice to store, organize and tweak digital still images and edit videos? Anything you like better?
Thanks in advance for your input!
I would be shooting in interior Alaska, Brooks Range, north of the Arctic Circle, but I know I may have to wait to see an aurora, even there. Great idea re. writing down settings. Thanks to all, again, for taking the time to help! :-D
Never saw a cloud formation quite like that; it's almost like cake frosting. Guess some celestial spirit is having a birthday party with a golden sunrise for candles.
Beautiful! I'm definitely psyched to shoot now! Thanks again.
Extraordinary! The combination of color, shapes, and the plethora of stars is unlike any aurora photo I've ever seen. Amazing. Have a great time on your next trip, and thanks again Kalina, and to all, for sharing your expertise and web finds. This is a great group!
Extremely helpful, Kalina. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!
Any specific recommendations?
Thanks. I've added your thoughts to my notes.
Any suggestion on a light-weight, roller-ball tripod that would do the job well and collapse into a small backpack?
Thanks, Kalina! Sounds like the Tokina 11-16mm /2.8 that I've been looking at might be a good choice.
