I've searched through this forum to find the answer to my question with no luck finding it. Why do video cameras use a square or rectangular lens hood, when we mostly still photographers us a round one? And why do the round shades usually use a (tulip shape)? Way back we only used round (no petal shapes)?

I am sure Mac was probably offended by that joke.

There is always someone to be offended. That is what our world has come to, so sad.

Jerry, How old are the snow tires? I had a set of tires on my old 2001 Mazda tribute and they all went flat at about the same; the tires were 6-7 years old (I wasn't driving it much after I retired). I had read an article right after that of a study on "DRY ROT" The rubber formulae are different on Many tires from different manufacturers. I remember reading that Goodyear and Micheline were the worst and dry rotted the quickest. Bridgestone and Firestone were the best.

I learned and maybe I learned on the UHH That if someone compliments how good your photos are, and finishes with " you must have a really good or expensive camera?" you just ask that person (perhaps if male?)"Is your wife or girlfriend is a really good cook? If the answer is yes, reply that she must have a really nice and expensive STOVE". I've only used this twice, but both times the person posing the question got the point immediately. I guess you change the main subject to something similar if the answer is NO.

I have an older Colormunki and a fairly new (last year)
BenQ 24" monitor and it worked just fine. I use an even older Lenovo desktop Intel 15i, 16 gig ram. I have had no problems.

Superfly TNT, Thanks for having my back on this one. It is apparent that some of our fellow UHH members have no real sense of humor. In your many post; you hit it right on the head. Thanks again for your support. I've been a member of UHH for over 10 years and enjoy much of the humor on this site (part of the reason I joined), but it has always seemed that there are a rare few that have taken it way to seriously. Life is too short, wee need to smile and not look to start trouble. I've seen it too many times here.

There was always that controversy as to which came first? Here is a new one that is just down our alley.

First one must define "Horror movie", my mother took us to all the classics; Frankenstein, vampire, mummy, werewolf, dinosaurs, creature from the black lagoon, them and big spiders even Godzilla. Today its all super crazy people hacking up innocents. You can watch that scrap on the daily news. At 10years the creature onto had me so terrified I couldn't sleep. I like the classics.

Everyone knows that the Internet is worldwide, so why don't articles include appropriate details? Two essential details are location and date.

Our local newspaper has an article about a "Machine Gun BnB." Thirty-three guns, some converted to shoot thirty-three rounds in two seconds, were discovered at a birthday party for a seventeen-year-old. The article mentioned towns and streets, but not the state. I Googled towns in NY, but they didn't show up. It turns out that this was in MN. That should have been the lead-off.

I've come across things like this before - "Major Flood!" Yeah, that was five years ago. The date and location are essential for any online article. "Amazing new features in Windows!" Yeah, from five years ago.

I have a degree in journalism, I was a photo journalist in the Army, and I taught journalism at high school. I always taught/used the pyramid structure; the most important info first, next important next and so on. I still have a daily paper delivered and read it every morning. I have read so many articles where the headline catches an eye but it takes3-4 paragraphs before you find what that headline is trying to say. I don't think anyone proof reads any more, everyday I find misspelled words, run on sentences and poor grammar. Online is not any better.

I have been following Larry McMurtry for many years. He is one of the best Lyrical story tellers ever. We have many of his albums on cd, some of his firsts were the best, although several of his newer albums are pretty darn good too. Someone else you may like the the EARLY albums by Fred Eaglesmith, he tells great stories too, his latest stuff not so much; look for Fred Eaglesmith and the flying Squirrels.

Check out the New River Bridge In SW West Virginia. I read this a long time ago; this bridge is a very large span across the New River. Economically they said that painting this bridge very (10?) years would be difficult and costly. Apparently they spray on some kind of oxide on the the metal and the (rust) helps protect and reinforce the metal also. I've paddled under this bridge a few times and it almost looks like paint. Rust is sort of spotty, this looks like paint ,very smooth and even. Also since its coated the oxidization does not continue to oxidize.
