TCR only handles Nikon. They have a large stock of clean, used gear— and will order new gear with fast turn around. Unless you have been a Canon dealer you probably don't know how the Big C treats the small dealer; it can cost the Little D more to sell their cameras than the Little D makes from the sale— therefore SE AZ has lost all its once upon a time Big C dealers.

Never forget that the Federal Government took over a brothel in Nevada and went broke. Anytime that the government gets involved in anything, it builds a never-ending kingdom to administer it. As of 25 Oct 2023, there are over 70,000 ICD-10-PCS procedure codes and over 69,000 ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes as part of the Affordable Care Act.

Some are so silly that they are beyond belief. Two of my favorites are "Bit by a Pig" and "Hit by a Duck". Only in America.

Ya, but remember that the brothel girls got early retirement benefits, medical care every week, on and off duty, and a comfortable old age. And isn't it better having those middle administrators gainfully employed, spreading their salaries around and keeping the economy healthy, not falling into the unemployment woes of the Recession/Depression times.

Somewhere inside is a big rubber band used to make it move. The French are good for pastry and wine but cars, not so much. The top 100 cars in history list very few French vehicles. Their assault rifles are infamous for breaking when dropped. Hospitality leaves much to be desired. Best known throughout history as being the losing sparring partner for the British. Monte Python's favorite target.

Pretty true but I rented a Peugeot in Kenya in the late 1960's, extremely comfortable and body fitting, 24 mpg., could burn anything you put in the tank, and the vertical wheel travel was one inch less than a Land Rover (of the time) and could go anywhere, thru mud and across rutting tracks. Plus, it was 'interesting'! As are the French.

Thanks for looking and the suggestion. That lightness in the lower left corner is the remnants of the setting sun, and I rather like it the way it is.

True, quite nice, and being there, a very nice experience. A principle of composition is to not place a distracting element close to the image edge; a light element attracts the eye, a point of strong contrast, black close to white, likewise. This principle can be reversed if you are going for a graphic image, and then the elements of the composition are large and bold. The reason the 'rule of thirds' and 'power points' are used in creating a composition is not because 'someone said so' but because the mind likes it so. The mind is a learning machine and acquires this sense by looking at many images, and asking itself what's the best way to do this, what tells the most complete, satisfying story. The Greeks started asking these questions mucho years BCE and found certain principles in art and architecture simply worked better than others.

Very nice. Get rid of the white stuff in lower left corner, shift emphasis to the boldest of the silhouettes (by lightening the background even more).

Earlier this month I started trying to get some Hi-Key macro stacks and single images, my problem was the slave strobe did not have enough power or coverage and the recycle time was terrible.
Now there was no way to get one of my Alien bees behind the subject so I started looking for a remote head that would do the trick, I found one but it was not within my budget, after a bit to thinking I remembered the tubes in the Alien bees just plugged in to the circuit board, a few days and dollars later my supplies came in, first job make an extension cord that plugged into the Alien bee head and onto the flash tube easy pezy, next came the "board " to hold the tube, The board 1/2" black acrylic plus 1/8" white acrylic glued together, then three 6.5 mm holes for the strobe tube to mount in, then plug the extension onto the connectors ,
The first problem was the high was way too harsh enter heat resistant diffusion paper two layers.
below are the results, plus the setup.
From the stacked image I need to work on controlling the spill from the back light!!!

Is it you or Murphy that is grousing about the spill, or haze on the image? Seems like that is part of 'high key' for some subjects. Would the editing filter 'De-haze' do what you want?

Just a basic question.
When you're out taking pictures and you need to adjust settings, do you go into the menu or to the "Q"
Thanks for your responses.

Mike, in a different response you asked 'what is an FV?' Where do you find an FV in your system?

Cute subject, sharp image. Too bad Pentax didn't bring out a digital camera; with their quirky thinking, they might have provided 'something outside of the box.' Or been a good mate to Fuji.

My fault was to hold my camera without strapping on while walking. I stumbled without seeing there were 2 steps down while walking under bright sun between buildings and high contrast shadows with my sunglasses on.
It happened on my 71 birthday. I didn't get hurt except my pride and my 8 years old D610 with my 1 month old 16-35 VR lens; the lens broke off and torn some parts from the camera body. I hope the lens seems ok but have no means to test it.
The bright side is time to upgrade to D780.
Any suggestions where to buy it. 42nd Street sells for $1369; is it a good deal?
I don't mind a used one if the price is right.

I have purchased 3 times from 42nd. Once OK, two suffered from misrepresentations, including a gray market product not represented as such and which they claimed I was trying to substitute not their product when I wanted to return it.

What's a "Q"? and is it camera specific?

Q is for Quick Menu. On my Olympus cameras a tap to the Q button on the body brings up a full frame panel that occupies the LCD and displays 26 smaller panels that can be tapped. A second line of choices appears at the bottom of the screen. A tap to the choice or a touch to the 4-way selector will change a setting. Very fast & handles most but not all shooting choices. My Canon M5 uses the Q/Set button central to the 4-way selector to access the Quick Menu which will be displayed around the edges of the shooting screen; it works but I find it a bit confusing because there is some lack in uniformity how each choice responds— so I will often go to the regular Menu, which is well organized— but in general the Canon offers fewer choices than the Oly. The M5 is about 6 years old so I would imagine most newer cameras offer a Quick Menu button.

Jim, not all of these are equally sharp, but with cropping, snapping up the contrast and sharpness, creative filter work, would be the 'negatives' for some very nice 'positives.' Viva la Victory Garden!

I pay $50.00 for a synthetic blend oil change in my 2002 Honda Civic at the shop I use & paid $14.00 each to have them replace the windshield wipers. I went to a local Honda dealer to get a new master key because all I got with the car was a valet key. The dealer charged me $212.00. I work at Batteries Plus Bulbs. We sell that same key for $107.00. Most dealers are a rip off.

Rip off, yes they are, but with Honda, and probably others, the only source for certain parts, and for the fluids for some specific changes. Seems that Honda engineers went to extra lengths to control the chemical balance of fluids as they age— helps the car age gracefully.
