Fair? Well that would depend on your client I suppose. I've done weddings, I don't now, and the only downfall I've found is that you can never please the mother.

Good luck. Nice photos you posted.

Thanks! YIKES on the mothers!

I see nothing wrong with shooting a friends wedding for free especially if they are not going to hire someone due to financial constraints. .. You will learn tons and so what if you screw up... some pics are better then none. I learned more in 7 hours then I have learned from videos. I would highly recommend taking a flash course :-) that was my biggest challenge technically. BTW I loved every minute of the experience:-)

I did shoot my sister's wedding for free. She couldn't afford a photographer and I had never shot a wedding before. She didn't have a formal reception, so I didn't have the experience of a full wedding day.

I shot my sister's wedding for free and it went well. She didn't have a formal reception afterward, just dinner, so it was a true example of a full wedding day.

I think I've attached 3 pics. I photograph seniors, families, newborns, and kids. I don't have any wedding photography other than my sister's wedding and I didn't have the equipment I have now.

I'm going to start shooting weddings next summer. I'm in the process of purchasing all of the necessary equipment I will need to produce professional images. I need help with how to price a wedding. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

What is a fair price? I will offer two shooters at the wedding. I was thinking this:

$1200 to shoot the before, during, after and reception pictures.
$200 for engagement pics.
$add'l amount for save the date cards - price determined by vendor costs and what client wants
$add'l amount for Wedding Photo Album

Does this sound fair. I would split the $1200 with the other photographer. I'm just starting out and I don't want to over price the job, but I also don't want to be working for pennies.

Let me know your thoughts or what you are doing. Thanks!

Of course, it's not as nice as a prof lab, but better than Walgreens.

That is a possibility. Meijers uses snapfish to print theirs if you order online and that works fine.

Thank you! I'm pretty proud of her! She just graduated from college with a BFA in Illustration. She paints and draws too! :) She is only 22! Yes, I'm a little proud of her! lol

I hope you are able to find a more professional photographer and get great photos of your daughter!

Good Luck!

You are not over-reacting. My daughter is a photographer and she only prints with a professional lab. She doesn't even share the name of the prof lab because the client can go on and order themselves however, they have to download their software and know how to crop the image, check the color, etc. If she told them, they would just call her and expect her to do that for them. She offers her images on CD and print pkgs. However, if the client wants to upload the pics and print somewhere, they are on their own. She tells them to not print at Sam's Club or Walgreens as it corrupts the CD. They are not prof printing labs and can't handle the high resolution.

I don't know this guy, but I would always suggest checking out other photographers work before booking.

For example, check out the senior gallery on my daughter's website:

I think she does a great job!

I would really consider getting a refund and going elsewhere as senior pics only happen once in a life time like wedding pics! :)
