I have been having fun with a 360 camera, having used both the LG and the Samsung product. The files are similar except for the somewhat greater resolution of the Samsung. Both the videos and still photos show well on my computer, and online on facebook. I have recently borrowed VR goggles that use a smartphone as the image display and source. There are several apps for Android that show the 360 videos well in the goggles. However, I have yet to find an app that will show the stills properly in the goggles. Any suggestions?

The main problem seems to be that the video apps will only show video files in their menus, and the still apps will not show any phone files at all; they will only show files in the cloud or at specific 360 sites.

Great shots!

How do you produce a "coon trill"? Is it a device I can buy in a store?

I am of Northern European heritage with blonde hair (now grey) and blue eyes. I have worn a full well trimmed beard since 1966. In 2001 I had to fly quite a bit for business. After 9/11 I was singled out for extended inspection on every single flight I was on for several months. I finally asked one of the friskers and after his "inspection" he said "get rid of the beard". Of course, I didn't, and eventually things quieted down.

Nice shot. Ducks are believed to be monogamous but these two really look like they are married. :D. In Korea people keep a pair of wooden ducks on a shelf in the house to tell visitors how they are getting along. When there is harmony in the house the ducks are placed facing each other, if there is disharmony one or both will be facing away from the other.

I might have been mistaken about them leaving. They are back this morning.

Maybe I should get a couple of Korean Ducks for our house. Thanks for the interesting information about a bit of Korean culture. We have been to Korea a couple of times, and found it to be a friendly, clean and very interesting place. I love KimChi!

Good shots, Violameister! But wouldn't it have been fun if they'd decided to stay?

At first I was disappointed, but after thinking about it, they will probably be safer being near a bigger pond. Plus, their presence would have inhibited us from using the yard so as not to disturb them. So, all in all, I think their leaving was for the best. (but, yeah, watching the hatchlings would have been a blast!)

I have owned a selfie stick for several years. I have never used it as a "selfie stick". I use it to elevate my camera above my head for a slight aerial view of whatever I am photographing. I also use it to support my 360 degree camera, as my hand ends up too big if I hold the camera directly. So banning selfie sticks would be a hindrance to me and would not make me happy; but not for the usual reasons. I guess I could use my monopod for these purposes, but it is much heavier than my selfie stick.

Our pond is only about 20 feet in diameter. A pair of ducks were scouting it out for starting a family today. I tried to convince them it was too small, but their response was to jump into the water. So, I waited a while, and they apparently decided I was right, and left of their own accord.

One other piece of advice: When you are learning to fly, turn on the camera and video every flight beginning to end. Then review it later. You will be reminded of things you tried that did not work, and, if you get unlucky and crash, you will have first hand evidence of what you might have done wrong. Then erase everything and use the card over for subsequent flights.

Although Alaska inland passage is on my bucket list, I also added a river cruise on the Nile on board the M/S Sudan.

We just completed a Nile cruise, albeit not on the M/S Sudan. There are literally hundreds of boats the size of the Sudan and a bit larger travelling the same route as the Sudan, and many are very luxurious. I must say, the sights to be seen are fabulous. Definitely a bucket list experience. The geography and history are so overwhelming that the boat almost becomes unimportant.

Thats what I am thinking but have never used one before are they durable or should I get a cheaper one to practice with before investing in a much better one and you are correct that I probably would not be satisfied with the capabilities of the cheaper one, and I know that you get what you pay for just don't wish to wreck a expensive one.

The more expensive drones are generally quite sturdy. Most of us have crashed at least once, and likewise, for most of us, the drone survived the crash just fine. The problem, with drones, as with new teenage car drivers is overconfidence. Take it easy, fly in large spaces with nothing to crash against, first practice flying slowly and nearby, then as skills increase, fly faster, farther, and nearer trees and other obstacles. But take it slow.

I do not have a cheap drone. But I do have the Nikon/Canon of Drones, made by DJI. Judging by the cameras you have, you will not be satisfied by either the flying or the photographing capabilities of any drone costing less than, say, $500. If you think you will be serious about drone photography, I heartily recommend a DJI product.

The $99 item will certainly be a fun toy, the enjoyment of which will fade quickly. And playing with such a toy does not prepare you for the more sophisticated products, which, in general, are easier to fly than the toys.

Agreed, stay away from Carnival and Holland American Lines. Holland American's maintenance has really gone down hill in the last couple of years, they skip many scheduled stops, and for the last three weeks I was aboard HAL ships, there was an on-board fire every week. BTW - HAL is owned by Carnival.

Holland America has been owned by Carnival for a long time, and at least, until recently was quite independent of them. We have gone on Holland America for a long time, but, admittedly not in the last couple of years. I am very much saddened to hear such disappointing news.
