Hi piccnurse. In answer to your query about free books from Amazon. I have to tell you that in my experience you get only what you pay for. As for photographic reading material I would guide you to Bryan Peterson's 'Understanding photography field guide'. Worth every penny and teaches so much. Spend a little money or do as I did and lean on someone that loves you and get it for a birthday gift.Good Luck.
I hope all these kind words don't go to my head. Lol.
Thank you for that. Looking for some more old stuff to mess with, and hopefully can take some new stuff too.
Thanks for the welcome. I put something in the gallery. Hoping for some good critiquing.
Want to say thanks again for the great welcome. I'm trying to get into the swing of things,Posted something for critiquing in the gallery. Messing with photos. Not even sure that is where it should be. Thanks again all. Kleveland.
This is my first real post and I really hope I'mm posting in the correct area. I like messing with photos and sometimes the results are not exactly as I would like them to be. But this one gave me the results I was hoping for. I was looking to create a digital version of the old Daguerreotype/tin type kind of thing. I have an interest in the old west. The photo itself was taken over thirty years ago with an Olympus OM something and was scanned into my computer. The rest of it, done about a year ago, was processed in CS5. I have to say it is meant to appear worn and aged. Please let me know what you think as now I have a yen to do more like this. Many thanks and Hello from a new member.
Many thanks, all, for the great warm welcome.
Hi, just found this site today. And though I'm not much for forums and the like, I have to say after reading some of the stuff here, I feel I may have been missing out. I can't get my head around the 'My Profile' area. I filled it out a couple times and it seems to disappear. This old chap needs help here, I think.
I've been forced into retirement due to health issues and after a little dark time I decided to get back into photography. I have just purchased a Nikon D5100 with an 18-55mm kit lens. I do like this camera. Much better than my old Olympus OM something or other from back in the day.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello.
Here's a photo I staged in my 'dark days'.
