I recently asked ACDSee Support if I could safely uninstall older versions of ACDSee (v17 and v19) when I upgraded to Pro 2020.. here is "James'" answer:
....................................................................................
Yes, you can uninstall ACDSee 17 and ACDSee 19 before installing Pro 2020. Or you can install Pro 2020 first and then uninstall those 2 legacy versions.

All the versions are independent, so it is personal preference. Usually, I would install the new version first, register it, and then uninstall the old versions.

ACDSee Studio Ultimate and Pro both have very good sharpening and noise suppression tools, so why would you need to put an image into PS, Topaz, etc. after you tweak it in ACDSee?

If Pro can do the perspective correction, then I would not have to use PSE... I can do everything else that I want/need to do in the current copy of v19 that I have...

👌👌... good to know... I'll spring for the Pro version. BTW, I too have some experience with floppys... I was an engineer in the lab when we developed the first 8" floppys... holymoly that was a long time ago...

actually, one more question: I have ACDSee v17 and v19 both on this machine... when I spring for Photo Studio Pro, can I uninstall v17 and v19?

thanks for the insight... I'll go with Photo Studio Pro... if I ever need to work with layers, I think PSE will work. Ya know, I have used ACDSee too for years and it's done all of the fundamental stuff that I needed to do in a hurry... thanks to you guys, I'm much smarter now :-)

Both Ultimate and Studio Pro are a lot different than the lesser ACDSee programs, so what you see in Ultimate is not what is available in 19 (I think it's now called Editor 11, which does not include perspective correction according to the spec sheets).

Cool... thanks for the response... I guess that settles it- off to the web to upgrade to the latest full package from ACDSee... at least that will keep me from switching apps by going to PSE to do the perspective correction... might cost me a few bucks, but it will be worth it to stay inside a single app. thanks again....

well rats... nothing in any of the drop-downs looks anything like the screen shot you presented... I don't have Ultimate... just plain ol' ACDsee v19... thanks a million for the help... maybe I should spring for Ultimate... might even consider 365... have to look at the relative pricing. Maybe evaluate v20 as well... thanks again, BeYoung.............

In my ACDSee version 19 there are perspective corrections and lens corrections in the develop module for sure, and I think also in the edit module, though I'm not entirely sure about edit. I do those things in "develop" and they work great.

I just don't see the "perspective correction"... I have v19.3, build 506... the website says that 506 is the newest build of v19... in the Geometry tab, all I see is Rotate, resize, flip, and crop. And I don't see "develop" mode... I'm using the desktop version, not 365..... wtf?

When in the edit side there is perspective correction, which corrects distortion. There is also lens correction in the geometry section in develop.

PSE can "distort" the image to balance out the effects of a very wide angle interior shot... I looked thru ACDSee v20 specs and didn't see any mention of that tool...

Why green backdrop is so special among varieties of backdrops?

Maybe because there are a variety of software packages the can eliminate a specific "green" color and replace it with another image or video... "ChromaKey" has been used for decades in the TV broadcast and there is a lot of experience with removing a specific green... used to be Blue Screen but lots of folks would wear blue and that made it difficult to remove the blue... almost nobody wears that specific color of green...

If you have experience with using a green screen for your webcam, please summarize your experience(s) and if you can, recommend one and provide a source. Thanks

An alternative to the actual green screen material is a software product called "ChromaCam".. about $30... uses AI instead of actual green screen. I use this with Zoom for replacing the native background with jpg images. As stated before, Lighting is the key. I use either a white or a light green table cloth as the background. An uncomplicated background lets the AI work better than a complicated "office" background. One note, I did have to upgrade my laptop to i7, 10th gen. Had an i7, 5th gen but the AI required more horsepower than the 5th gen could supply... rendered lots of artifacts around my torso. 10th gen worked much better, and will work great with good lighting. The Zoom website talks about the best conditions to let their AI work at full throttle.

You're right.

1/125 at f/8 = EV 13.00
... and 1/320 at f/9 = EV 14.67.... for one and two-thirds stop difference.

1/125 at f/9 = EV 13.33
... and 1/320 at f/8 = EV 14.33... or one stop difference.

Supposedly all were shot at ISO 100.

We don't know from the original post which shutter and aperture combos the camera was choosing in P mode. All we know is the range of changes in the settings.

It's important to know the exact combo of shutter/aperture/ISO in each shot.
You're right. br br 1/125 at f/8 = EV 13.00 br .... (show quote)

thanks for your comments......
