I am interested in comments from those who have experience with the Peak Design Capture Clip? Good? Bad? Other thoughts?

I hike a lot of rough ground and ride an ATV with a Canon 7D and either an 18-200 or 100-400. The Capture clip snugs the camera and lens in between by arm and my shoulder, it feels solidly secure and I have both hands free.

If I weren’t outside with a heavier camera I don’t know how much I would use it.

LCD was reading my mind. Go to www.serif.com for Affinity Photo. You make one payment, and never again. The updates are totally free, and this software will make Adobe Photoshop worry! This is a very power full piece of software, and the cost usually runs about $50. There is even a trial plan.

It's Affinity Photo for me.

I agree about Affinity Photo but you want to have binoculars to use it. I am ready to go to Photoshop Elements or such because of the small, dark user interface with Affinity Photo. It COULD have been so good… :/

Just thought I’d add a comment, for no particular reason…:)
Ninety percent of my pictures are outside where their is a creek, a pond, livestock, dogs wild things and sunsets.
My goal is to learn to use my camera well enough get exactly what I see.

I use my own photographs to make note cards. The computer magically turns me into an artist. It can turn my photographs into pencil drawings… really good ones.

If I changed the color of the sky, the water etc with the computer I would not feel like it was a authentic photograph. I would have “cheated”.

Using the computer to make an imitation drawing doesn’t bother me at all. I am so impressed with how good they turn out. My friend actually draws “authentic“ pictures by hand on her note cards. She is a “authentic” artist… I’m just a “cheater“ but I still really like my notecards 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It seemed to be all of these shots, they were four or five. I looked for anything in focus and like you, thought the background was soft too.
It’s not unusual for me to get out of focus shots, but I can usually find what it did focus on.
I did not know about store original 🫤

I take lots of action shots in my focus is seriously perfect.
Should I be looking at camera issues?
Thank you

To each his own, I like RAW...
But I'm not a language/linguistics professor.

Besides, it matches the font for JPEG.

Good one…😂

Simple.
Edit with a RAW editor, same editing philosophy as JPEG, just different (more) editing options.
Save edits as JPEG.
Nothing magical.

Thank you 😊

What camera? What software? Those are the issues 1 and 1a. Users of specific software (and cameras) can provide more directly actionable advice specific to your equipment. You can / should google youtube for RAW editing demonstrations using your software, a great way to get usage ideas.

Relative to getting started, the camera's typically free software will apply the camera defaults to the RAW image as if it was a JPEG from the camera. This can make it hard to recognize the opportunities to 'push' the image. If there's an <auto tone> option in your software, try that function and see what the software does to the image. Take it from there with the various sliders in your tool.

When you become a RAW photographer, you become the decision maker for the following considerations in post processing, where many had been decided by the camera for the JPEG:

1. Sharpening
2. Noise Reduction
3. Color Saturation
4. Exposure adjustments, general
5. Contrast, general
6. Highlights and shadows
7. White Balance
8. Lens corrections
9. Color space
10. Pixel resolution for target image share platforms
11. Disk storage (for the larger files)
12. Image file back-up strategy (for those larger files)

You don't have to understand all these issues, but when you do, you'll be much more successful as a RAW photographer.

Go for it, adjusting your raw images can be very satisfying.

Do you have a program for editing raw files?

It seems your camera has a raw mode. Possibly
the camera came with a CD-ROM with a raw editing
program or have invited you to their website
to download a program?

And kudos for writing "raw" and not "RAW"... "raw" is not an acronym.
It's "raw" as in uncooked.

Well said about raw…And I don’t have to try and make all caps. 🙂

I use RAW most of the time because: I can have more control over noise, pull more detail from shadows, save more detail in whites. I'm color-challenged so depend mostly on the software corrections ("as shot," Auto," daylight," most often) if they look sorta close. Oh, and I avoid JPG "artifacts" which can be a problem.

My answer too

I believed from what I read that RAW photos needed to be “Finished“ And saved. My computer tells me which photos are RAW. Are use Photos or Infinity Photo on my iMac. I look at them on my iPad and it keeps them in the RAW files so I’m guessing it doesn’t save them as JPEG when I look at them.

I am looking for a good resource to show me the a basic workflow to get a finished JPEG. I’m not looking for how to edit, even the best program. I just need to know understand the steps.

I say basic because 99.999% of my photos would be just fine as JPEG. :)
I also read that if action shots are your priority JPEG may be best anyway?
