I would like to know which is a better all around camera, the Nikon P510 or the Canon SX40. I see some of you have the Canon and would love any feedback on both.

I am not in the market for either of these particular cameras nor do I own one. I was however, looking to buy a dSLR and I did a lot of research between a Nikon and a Canon. The one article I came across that made the most logical statement said basically it is similar to the battle between Chevys and Fords. You have those who love a Chevy and will never but a Ford and vice versa. They are both good cameras. You need to look at each of their strong points and weak points and then decide which is most important to you. As some have already pointed out, it's not the camera, it the person behind it that makes the difference. Good luck with your decision!

Your first one is my favorite! The color, composition and the background compliments the color of the flowers!

Day 63 - Another cloudy flat light day. This is growing old fast. It's hard to be excited about shooting under these conditions. I want to be challenged by shooting pictures daily rather then posting archived photos. But that is my personal challenge. Here it today's. Please don't feel obligated in any way to comment.

Great photos Skip !

SO...it was late when we crossed the refuge and I thought I'd take a few pictures of birds.....and look what I learned!!! The flash came on and I really like how it turned out...so I experimented and took a few more.....what do you think?

1. This was the first one I took. Certainly didn't expect what I got, but liked it....learned something about flash and lighting!

2. SO then I tried to get the effect deliberately.....I like it.

By the way...these are straight from the camera....

Well..this was challenging..i am not sure i got it. My first post i feel like the foreground supports the focal point....do you agree?
On two the little girl was hopping around and know i missed her foot but seemed too sweet not to post.
On the last the water going up the back led my eye to the jumper but don't know if it works????
After today i will be much more conscious of foregrounds so once again ...thanks Photogrl57

Your foreground in both photos of the kids helps tell the story, otherwise it would look like they were playing on a wet sidewalk. While the foreground in the photo of the biker doesn't add anything to him feeding the birds it adds depth to the photograph! Well done!! Pg 11

Your photos are perfectly fine Ken!! Pg 12
They include the foreground which tells you are little more about the photo, without detracting from the main subject!

Foreground photo. During the month of August a few years ago, the summer had been excessively dry and so we were able to walk up this rocky stream bed searching for this arched stone railroad bridge that we had heard about. The only way to access this bridge was to walk up the stream bed. the rockiness of our route is well illustrated in the foreground of the photo I had taken as we approached the beautiful stone arch. A reflection of the arch is also visible in the water. This stone bridge was a glorious find!

I have a tie going Sherrie! Pg 16
I like the one of the tree. The shape of the tree and the golden color of the leaves and the grass. I also really like the flowers and your use of a SDOF to focus on the lily. Very nice!!

What is the tie??

I don't know which one I like best
I like them both equally as well!!
