Nikons don't need warrantees, in 35 years of owning them they never went wrong!

I agree with your statement about the Nikon quality.

But, it's still good extended warranty info IMO for anything we purchase that has a warranty. So folks, don't fall for the "buy the extended warranty", get a credit card with that feature built in!

Nikon have brought out two new models of SLR and their D3100 and D5100 are BOTH well discounted here in the UK

Which would you buy and why ?

the D3100 is £290 and the D5100 is £399

Since asking this question some weeks ago I have found online a company offering the Nikon 5100 with
VR kit lens AND 2 years Nikon warranty for £339 !!!

surely at this price with 2 years covered by warranty I need look no further ?

what do you say ?

Graham

Graham,

Unless I'm mistaken, you seem somewhat swayed by the 2 year warranty. My Chase Visa credit card adds a one year warranty on top of any warranty that comes with a product I purchase with that card. Just keep your receipt and if anything goes wrong after the original product warranty expires, call the credit card company and they will help you. Many people already have this feature on their credit card and are not aware of it. Call your card company and inquire. If they don't offer it, try Chase Visa if you can get it over on your side. It's a nice perk and I've used it on occasion.

I hope this info is of benefit to you and others.

And of course the methods mentioned before. Either way they are typically posted late Friday night early Saturday morning for all to see.

As for the rest, the Running Totals are a list of previous winners with multiple winners underlined.

If I can make any of this more clear please feel free to let me know otherwise thank you again for joining us.

THANK YOU for the instructions on how to find the photo contest winners. I've been trying to figure it out too and now see the 4 winners of the Shoot the Moon contest.

Please explain what the "running totals" means? ie. 1st = Skew, Eric LS, colnago, Ugly Jake, 369Kae, etc..

So much effort goes into people entering the contests, voting and judging that it's a shame so many of us don't know how to access the results. I'm sure many give up. I saved the instructions, so I can find results easier the next time. Thanks a lot. GenieGal

Wow, hope to someday take a picture half as nice as this. Absolutely gorgeous. I'm sure equipment factors largely in this. What kind of camera are you using?

Amazing photos, thank you for sharing them. I was struck by the many colors of the water. From caribbean blue to that striking emerald green and so many other colors. Someday I hope to be able to see this in person, and maybe by then I'll have learned how to take superb photos. ;-)

This is my first day finding this awesome site. I've already learned a LOT of things and am looking forward to learning a lot more. As I said in my profile, my main interest is in genealogy, and with genealogy come pictures, old and torn, creased, tintypes almost as black as coal. Thus far I've been paying someone else to edit my pics and am looking forward to learning some of the basics. I use an old Nikon Coolpic 2500, which I love. I especially like how the lens flip closes into the body. No need for lens covers and it easily slips into a pants pocket. I don't see that style being made anymore but that's what I would like to upgrade to.

The thread that caused me to sign up was "What steps would you take to edit this photo?" posted by CajonPhotog. The huge variety of edits caught my eye. The "time capsule" is the bomb! I didn't understand a bit of the technical jargon but I know what I like! Fabulous.
