I put up a bunch of hummer feeders each year here in St. Louis. Several of those are small window feeders that need refilling each day. The larger feeders usually last 7-8 days, which is when they get cleaned and refilled. But by the first of October we will see only 2 or 3 hummers coming to the feeders and that is when I start removing feeders to be cleaned and stored.
The last bird I saw this year was on Oct 9th. Of course, the sneaky little devils could have come to the feeders without being seen. I kept a few feeders up until the 20th.
Some spooky characters in that rendering. Well done. Hope we can all go trick-or-treating again next year! Stay safe (especially from the ghouls), well and keep on posting the great work.
Grant's Farm in St. Louis has Halloween tours every year, but it was drive-through only this year. I didn't go, but reminisced by pulling out this collage from the past.
I often use Pixie, a free color picker that will give you hex, html, rgb, cmyk and hsv color codes for whatever colors are under the cursor. Very useful for web developers and photo editors alike. http://www.nattyware.com/
The last of our hummingbirds left the yard about two weeks ago. The feeders are now all down, cleaned and stored until spring. These photos show four hummers watching their favorite feeders from a nearby tree. We had dozens of hummers at the feeders, but I wonder if any/all of these photos are of the same bird?
