P6- Very nice color! It looks like a delicate plant. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, it’s actually not too bad and handles these coastal winds well! It even survived the winter and was blooming here and there. Our temps at times were in the teens. I was surprised to say the least!

Thanks so much for hosting. Your first post is superb in showing "Purple". I've really enjoyed everyone's posts but have not had the time to post myself. Thought I would take a little time out to do so.

These are wonderful!!

I’m going to shake the pot a little by adding Quiet Contrast. By employing quiet contrast, one can convey a sense of serenity, introspection, or even a hint of mystery. The subdued tones and gentle transitions can evoke a range of emotions, allowing viewers to connect with the image on a deeper level. Quiet contrast emphasizes the preservation of subtle details within the image.
Instead of overpowering the viewer with bold contrasts, it invites them to explore the image more closely to discover hidden nuances and intricacies. This morning for golden hour I went out and took this photo on the intracoastal. I believe this works as an example.

The real 'awe' is seeing a full sky Aurora where it just seems to crackle overhead.

I couldn’t even imagine that beauty! I would be outside watching and photographing it all the time lol. 😆

Contrast to me is showing extreme differences, rough vs. smooth, light vs. dark, good vs. evil, white feathers vs. blackish backgrounds.

Yes this too with textures and lines and shapes can really be amazing ways to show contrast. Such a beautiful example too!!

Does photographing sunsets / rises need particular photographic skills?
No and not even a fancy camera as a cell phone will do the job! 😉

I've heard you should never give up with a sunset 'til it's too dark to shoot

I prefer being out at sunrise and watching the world awaken, but any color is very fleeting.

I’ve been rewarded before by waiting for the sunset to explode and some times it just doesn’t happen. However the reward is when it does!
The view from my backyard of the sunrise are merely a fleeting glimpse of the longer lasting sunrise in Surf City!

For me, #1 is high-impact for your hiding the sun with sharply angled black forms.

Thank you! What started off as a bland sunset ended with a surprise of color!

1. Color Intensity: Contrast can be created by using colors that are opposite or significantly different from each other on the color wheel. For example, pairing a vibrant red against a deep blue or a bright yellow against a dark purple creates a striking contrast.
The stark difference in color intensity draws attention and creates visual impact
2. Light and Dark Contrast: Contrast can also be achieved through variations in lightness and darkness. Combining colors with different brightness levels can create a strong visual separation and add depth to an image. For instance, placing a bright object against a dark background or vice versa can generate a compelling contrast.
3. Warm and Cool Colors: Another way to create contrast with colors in photography is by using warm and cool tones. Warm colors, such as reds, oranges, and yellows, tend to advance and grab attention, while cool colors, like blues and greens, recede and provide a sense of calm.
Combining warm and cool colors within a composition can result in a visually striking contrast.
4. Complementary Colors:
Complementary colors are pairs of colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel, such as red and green or blue and orange.
Utilizing complementary colors in a photograph can generate a high level of contrast, as they intensify each other when placed together. This creates a dynamic visual effect that can be very appealing.
5. Monochrome Contrast: Contrast can also be achieved in monochrome or black-and-white photography. In this case, it involves variations in shades of gray. Pairing lighter grays with darker grays or incorporating a wide range of tonal values can produce a strong contrast and enhance the overall impact of the image.
I’ve attached 2 pics that I believe work showing contrast.

I’ve been waiting for a morning like this so I could try and see what my new canon Ra would capture. It is a speciality camera for astrophotography but figured I’d try it for a sunrise and wow, it did fantastic!

I should have added I do already own the Sky-Watcher Star adventurer 2i Pro and an Asiair plus. I am not looking to purchase a camera lens, this camera is only going to be used for astrophotography. Purchasing an expensive lens like that would be a waste of money for me. I am strictly looking for any suggestions for a telescope lens for my Canon Ra camera. This camera has a specialized IR cut filter which is optimized for astrophotography. I do also want to add a guide scope but wondering if anyone on this forum has this specialty camera with a telescope lens setup. Ive been eyeing a Williams optics RedCat 51, 71 and 81 for some time now and looking for any further suggestions for an astro camera set up. My other option is just a Smart Telescope such as a Vespera or Unistellar and selling the mount and the guide. The Canon Ra camera and the Rokinon 14mm would then be strictly used for nightscapes.
