Whenever I have a question about a birds ID I post it here http://www.facebook.com/#!/cornellbirds. They are quick to answer.

I haven't taken a picture of it yet but last week I noticed a Cannibal lane just a few miles from my house.

Your first picture looks like a song sparrow but it is hard to tell without seeing the entire chest.

Mine is a Clark's (my last name) Grebe. Originally it was considered a pale morph of the Western Grebe until studies done in wetlands near my current house determined that they were seperate species.

I saw this one diving for fish near the road. I crawled under the road through a large mostly dry culvert in order to get the close up ground level shot.

The photos of the cannonball concretions do not do them justice. There are hundreds of rocks that are nearly perfect spheres up to 6 feet in diameter.

Don't get me wrong I love how it fills the frame but 8X10 would make a great calendar or a desktop for my work computer.

Thanks, I really love this picture. The only thing I regret is that I didn't leave any room on the sides. Now I am stuck with 4X6 landscape as my only print option.

Wow! What an amazing place. I am lucky if I see 10 Monarchs in a year where I live. Here are 2 I saw this summer.

I like the backlighting on that second shot.
I haven't been able to get any closeups like this yet. The Monarchs are keeping pretty much to the trees so far.

Why would you want any options, this a magnificent photograph.

These are all handheld at 50 to 100 yards. I think you could get a lot sharper image if your setup was mounted on a tripod.

Before I got my DSLR I had a digital HP pocket camera with a 3X optical zoom lens. The lens fit perfectly in the eyepiece of my binoculars and I used it often (handheld) for bird photos. It actually worked quite well. All of those photos are currently on disc. If I find them I will post some.

Thanks. I would like to see them.

Freshly fallen snow. Two from me and one from my 6 year old.

Your six yr old does great work! So do you! Love these.

I thought he did a great job. I enjoy taking my kids on driving photo shoots. We just pull off the road and take the best picture we can out the window. I set up the camera and whoever is sitting on the same side as the subject gets to take the picture. He told me when to stop the car then took 4 pictures from 18mm to 33mm. I was trying to get him to zoom in further but told me no. Turns out he was right.
