I have taken on a project of taking photos of Texas County Courthouses and in doing so, have been to 74 thus far, have started taking a few with my iPhone 8 at each stop in order to send to my sister and daughter along the way to let them see where I am at. I have been amazed at the quality of the pics I have taken, will try to attach a few.
I do not know what you are shooting with but for you to say " I think the advantage here is that you can over/under expose very easily." is certainly not correct. I shoot in aperture priority, set the ISO according to conditions, under expose is click left, over is click right, how can that be any easier? To me Aperture Priority becomes somewhat Manual when you under expose, over expose, bracket etc. Shooting in Manual has it's place but I do not think you are going to get better shots with the method you cited in your opening post than someone who uses the Aperture Priority mode.
I hate to be the one negative comment because these are good. With a scene like this with those whites a -2/3 to -1 would help, the whites are blown out in my opinion.
It is only 17 megs when you open it, then you save it and then it becomes smaller as a jpeg. That is what jpeg is. It then becomes manageable to email and the recipient then can open it and print it. When you email it, it is NOT that large.
I am so confused by your posts. Are you saving the file in jpeg, do not think you ever answered that question. Also a 5x 7 at 300 dpi is less than a half a meg emailed, and your customer can open it and print it. Enlighten me, this post has been so confusing. The attached is a 5x7, think 5.7 megs opened for print, emailed it is about a half a meg.
I am a bit confused by your question. First what format are you saving the photo in. Maybe I am missing something but if you save it as a jpeg it would be much smaller. Again I must be missing something in your question. I just looked at one of mine and an 8x12 at 240 when open it is over 15 megs, saved as a jpeg it is like 1.1.
My hard drive had a head crash and I lost more than half of my photos and videos just because I procrastinated in backing them up. 1000's of memories gone forever! I am so devastated! It was a Seagate hard drive which I was told that it was a common problem with that brand. Please learn from my mistake. BACKUP YOUR PHOTOS AND VIDEOS AND DON'T BUY SEAGATE HARD DRIVES!
Don't know how long you have been doing this but you need to keep one off site at the very least. Used to store one in my office, was a principal at a high school, now take one to my best friend at the change of seasons. I.E. Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring etc., maybe more often, just depends.
I have, since they changed the site, have had heck uploading photos, am sure it is me but, you know, I had no problems before. Very frustrating am about to quit them.
Yes, and I am not stupid, do not know what I have done wrong.
