Yes, you're right - someone else brought this to my attention also. Thank you!

Wow, I left out what kind of camera, big oversight, sorry! It's a Canon PowerShot Elph 310HS.

No, no filter or lens hood. I had another camera just like this, and I must admit, got it wet at the beach and ruined it - (the put-it-in-the-bag-with-rice trick didn't work). I had used this original camera quite a bit, liked it, had never had this problem, so I replaced it with a used
"excellent condition" one, that has this problem. ???

I bought this camera used (ha-ha on me) and it has these shadows in the corners (see attachment). Does anyone have an idea about a cause and a solution for this? Thanks, Joe Mayshark

Yes, it's hard to believe that the language can't be set, but in fact this is the case - if you look at the listings for this camera on Amazon I think it will convince you that what I say is true. My guess is, as I said, that this is a remaindered item, and they have a warehouse full of them in Japan. Most of the Amazon listings (all from Japanese dealers of various kinds) make it clear that you are buying a Japanese model with Japanese menus. The price is right - about a third of what this camera originally retailed for. I think that in fact this cameras was never marketed in the U.S., and the English-language manual exists because it was marketed in the U.K. and perhaps other English-speaking countries, so presumably there are in fact English-language models out there, but that's not what's being remaindered off now.

I've done quite a bit of stereo over many years, on and off, and was interested enough to buy the 2 digitals that are now, I assume, being remaindered off at more or less fire-sale prices. The Lumix DMC-3D1 only comes as a Japanese model - I was able to find and download an English-language User Manual, which helps of course, BUT it doesn't actually explain just what the icons mean, and this is a problem - the on-camera labels are all in Japanese. Some of the icons are fairly obvious, but others are not at all, at least to me. If anyone has this camera and can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe Mayshark
