Be sure to visit Old San Juan , if you can. It is a great place for pictures. There is a free bus near where the cruise ships doc. that will take you to El Morro. I suggest you get off there and then walk back down.

If all you have to do is remove the ring of a filter you can cut it w. a hack saw. Just be extra careful cleaning the metal dust off the lens. Leave 1 particle and you'll scratch the front element when cleaning it afterwards. Look for thread repair tool on the 'net.

thanks so much i removed the broken glass then lived without a protiction lens for few days. and today went to wolf and got "robbed" 45 dollars for the protiction lens i paid 20 in BH in ny.

I've heard of this happening to someone else before. Once you get a solution, I hope you'll share so that if anyone else experiences this misfortune, they'll be in less of a panic over what to try.

when i dropped my camera (ohhooccohhh galore);) i broken to 2 the protection lens. it was lucked and i was not able to remove it. so i asked my friend to break the glass which he did and i lived without the glass for few days. but the ring was still attached.

my lens protection on my 18-200 nikon lens cracked due to a drop of my camera.!!!!

now i can not remove it from the main lens.

anynone can help me?

i am so sick over it.

Since the filter is already broken, if the lens isn't bent, you might try a very small pair of vice grips held straight out and turn the lens while holding the vice grips still. Hardware store would sell the vice grips. Might be an option if you want to do it yourself. I agree with "camera store" if you have one where they do minor repairs or maintenance.

Better get it to a good size camera store. They may be able to get the old filter off for you. However, if the lens barrel is bent it will likely need to be sent someplace to be serviced.

Google to find a couple of service shops near you.

thanks i will
