GRRREAT job on the retouches! I just dont have the computer or program to do that. I have elements 2 and 7-cant figure out how to use 7 tosave my life-the old one, i figured out, but my computer is to old and slow for the functions. Someday, I'm gonna win the lottery and get all new and the camera I want, hehe It's been a year since I've had the chance todo photos. Normally, I take my time and and shoot NOT TOO MANY, but this time I went hog wild, only 820 shots, like a real rookie, huh. Thanks for your help. How did you get the shine on the lips?

She's Gorgeous and you did a great job! Yes there are some minor details that could use a little help. Do You mind if I give here them a go on my portrait software? I'll only submit them to you via PM.

Not rookie behavior at all, No one ever complains that you take too many, I took more than that at the last rehearsal/wedding/ reception that I shot! I think you did a very good job! Don't worry about the camera too much it's the 12 inches behind the camera that counts.
For the shine one her lips, I didn't add anything that wasn't already there, just gave it a little emphasis. I'm not going to add any criticism here but I'll send you my email address in a PM and if you like I'll be more specific

MWAC The mid day rule is the one I do know, was the only time available for her.So we hoped for the best. I didn't use the pop up flash. Most were all done in natural light and a few with an attached speedlight that I tried to make sure wasn't pointed directly at her. Actually, my shutter speed was 1/250 in most of the photos, but some was 1/125-1/160. I'm a dummy when it comes to the technical parts. I've tried, but gets frustraed quickly . Guess that's why I still call it a hobby As far as the soft focus, she's very shy and couldn't relax, so I put the tele on and moved back a distance. Thanks for your imput, love your photos, lots of creativity in them!

Never take a portrait in the Texas Sun between the hours of 12 - 3 (in the summer stretch that out to between the hours of 10am - 6 pm) you are just asking for harsh sunlight.

It looks like you used the pop up flash on your camera? If so turn it off. It does nothing for your subject having a flash pointed directly at their face, it results in flat- blah lighting.

Your focuse is soft in all the images, do you know what your settings were? Shutter Speed should be around 1/250 for handheld (rough esitmage, some can hand hold at lower speeds, some need a higher speed).

Step, I do see the blurry since you pointed it out. I'm blind in one eye and cant see out of the other LOL but its true. Thank you. And jadeast, bring on your comments/ I'd love the help. I know there were several things. These were taken between 12 and 3pm in the Texas sun, A NONO, 89 degrees and humid. We took some in a field of hay about waist high , perfect for what she wanted but I couldn't get rid of the racoon eye shadows from any direction.

I'm no pro , just my thoughts. I think the shot is fine, lighting not so fine, would love to see it played around with color and contrast. more sepia and brown tones with more light in face. It's all about learning and every technigue you try is a learning experience. I think most all photos are salvageable, maybe not sellable, but can definitely be something you can turn into a photo that you like. At my daughters wedding, there was a photo that was completely black, started to delete but something stopped me, i played and lightened and it was the est photo of the bunch, in my eyes, it captured a moment in time of two people, not knowing their photo was taken with a beautiful sunset behind them. ALL photos have something special-just play with them and you'll discover amazing things that you like-even if others don't. Your second photo, I like the pose, just maybe adjust the pink tint a bit is my thought.

Everything is still too pinkish. Take your models outside and snap a few and compare, then you'll see how you need a different colored backgraound and more reflective lighting. But I wish we all had your great subjects. They act like they love thier photos taken. Also, you said the top area has so much empty space for captions, but I think if you get in closer to your subjects then P/S your photo on a page, would be better maybe.
