I personally prefer the photo where the subject is looking at the camera. When the subject is looking at the camera the photograph becomes more personal with the viewer...
My photo "not a glamor shot"
I have been using an HP all-in-one printer for several years and have been happy with the photo print quality and I have been a photographer for several years... For print size up to 8x10 it has served me well... :)
Years ago (before Computers), I use to photograph an 18% gray card and then most photo editing programs allow you to read the colot of the gray card in the photograph on your screen. This would allow you to adjust your monitor to match the proper color of the gray card
Photo Shop should everything you need. :)
