I try to avoid harsh lighting and use poses that compliment the subject. imho wrinkle removal changes a subjects character, and I like shots with loads of character.

I really like number 3 - how cute she is! Getting the photo bug already.

Thank you. I think I will have to end up giving her the camera.

"My, what big eyes you have!" Great to see her starting so young. She makes a great model.

Thanks. getting her to stand still is a problem though.

It is still a word in common use, but I miss the word gasper which you don't hear anymore.

At the moment we have torrential rain and flooding in various parts of the country, by summer we will be told there is a water shortage and are banned from washing our cars and watering the lawns. Go figure.

You should see a difference. Try it with a larger no. Try +/- at lest 2. On the plus side images will be lighter and on the minus side darker. Give this a try.

I also use +/- 2 for HDR with Tripod and remote shutter release.
I like the contrast this produces in Photomatrix.

It doesn't matter if you use a pin hole camera, a DSLR or a cell phone......isn't it still photography?

I agree it is all photography but I think the point the article is trying to make is that cell phones are getting to the point where buying a DSLR is unnecessary. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 but it is far less comfortable to use as a camera than all my other camera's.

I found this article in a Popular British broadsheet, I know this has been discussed before, but I just wondered what other members thought. I have never taken a decent image with a camera phone!

HI There...
I am planning to buy the new camera. As of now thinking of Canon 600D Kit III. I am just beginner. Can anyone please guide me is this good to buy 600D Kit III or any other option.

Hi welcome to UHH. I have owned the Canon 600D for about a year, I bought it with the Kit 18-55 EFS Lens. I then purchased an EFS 55-250 (although I wish I had gone for the 300mm) and the 50mm F1.8 which is really Cheap and gives great images.

The articulated screen is great for low tripod or overhead work.
The camera has all the settings you need to learn Photography.

In summary the 600D is a great entry level DSLR, Reasonable price & will give excellent images once you learn the basics.

I posted a few photographs as newbe here on UG.
I love that I recieved responces both positive and negitive. Some seem to really like my work, others not so much.

In art, photography, is there really a right, or a wrong??

As long as you, or someone else enjoys the final result, isn't that what really matters in the long run?

This is a view I have long held, If a photograph gives one single person pleasure then the work was worthwhile. Even when trying to make money from Photography, someone may see something in a picture that others have missed and would be willing to part with money for it.

If we all saw things in the same way the world would be a tedious place.

Just my thoughts.

I loved all your comments, it is nice to know we can do something right. I have a friend who was a director of photography in TV.

He worked on various things including Sherlock Holmes and The Royal Family, which in the earlier series were shot with a single camera than never moved. It gave a the program a novel perspective.

He is who I ask when I need to know something about lighting.

I recently purchased this camera Rebel T3 and I love the pictures and the functions however I was wondering if anyone who has this model have the same disappointment as I do. When I click to take the picture the shutter button is pretty loud, let's just say, not quiet enough...it's enough to scare birds and close up animals away.

Hi Kris, If your manual is the same as the UK version it is on page 122, "Mirror Lockup to Reduce Camera Shake" Although all this does is lock the shutter up when the shutter release is pressed halfway, so you still get the noise. The way to go is Liveview as this locks the Mirror up until Liveview is turned off.

Hope this Helps.

Good Luck
