I recently found a very good magazine called "digital photographer." It is published in England. I was a big fan of Outdoor Photographer but they folded this summer.
Just google it and you can get pretty good idea of what it covers.
It is sad that so many mags are gone.
You can order this in print or on line or both depending on your preference.

If you look in the second section where it says Preset: Custom then there is a slider below that and next is a check box that says Reset Sliders Automatically. Check that box and your problem should go away.
If the box is unchecked, when you open a new mask, it opens with the last settings you had from your previous mask.

EUREKA! It worked. Thank you Dave!! you saved me from the dreaded help desk at Adobe.

Interesting- I noted that many of us have been members since 2013. We continue to help each other enjoy this wonderful hobby.

Hope this helps Chg_Canon also - who helps so many people every week

When I click on that box that you have as green, I get a color picker "eye dropper". Pick white.

Thanks for your suggestion.
I have done that and it corrects it.
Unfortunately , I have to do it every time.
I can't find a "preference" or other setting to change that fixes it permanently.

Doesn't your "Color" setting say -17 on the Tint? Right there on what we might see in your screen capture you posted only as a thumbnail, rather than an attachment? If you zero-out these values, the temp and tint, doesn't that resolve? I believe if you double-click the words "Temp" and "Tint", the setting reverts to zero.

I don't have the same version, but my "mask" seems to default to something I did a long, long time ago. If you can figure out how to undo this default, please advise, as that might help many LR mask users.

I tried setting them to zero- it affects the color a little but the green color is still in the box on the lower right. That seems to be the culprit.

Whenever I open a new mask in LR, I get this green tint on the subject. It shows up in the color box at the bottom of the box (see attachment). I can go in manually and choose "white" from the picker but that is a real pain to do each time.
I have no idea what I accidentally did to create this problem- but would love some help in correcting it.

Many thanks,

Stan

Excellent night study in leading lines, Stan!

Thanks to all for your kind comments.

It was one of those spots where everything just lined up nicely to my eye. I remember an old piece of advice "put your camera in front of something interesting"

There is an area by Bodega Bay called Marshall. Quite a few oyster spots to eat and pretty scenery. Mendocino is very worthwhile. If you can manage to go inland to Sonoma wine country you will not be disappointed by the sites. Literally can take any road and wowed.

Bsprague's list is spot on.

We had rain today and I watched MK, AM, JK and TW and learned something from all of them.

The upgrade was painless and smooth.

Now I have to upgrade from Catalina to Monterey. That will be a different project.

I have used Smugmug for years. Never lost a picture or had a problem. They get very good reviews for commercial use also- but I only do family and friends.
You can make the site its simple or slick as you wish.

My nephew experienced a power outage in Southern California and when power resumed, his external Seagate drive (possibly 10 years old) would not work. I know there have been numerous postings in the past about crashed drives with suggestions how to fix. However, none that came up in my search suggested the names of companies that had success.

Does anyone have a company that was successful in restoring an old drive?

I know he should have had a better back up system ( I use time machine with a WD unit and Backblaze for the cloud and have been happy with the results), but I am trying to help him deal with the current situation.

Thanks, Stan
