well i myself was not happy with some of the wedding shots bc the indoor situation and not having the external flash, however the bride and family were very happy with how they all turned out :) so i guess thats all that matters at this point, i am however looking into getting an external flash, but not a too expensive one since money is kind of tight right now, was thinking around 200 dollars any suggestions?

you can check out the photos here : https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.444760968876006.105642.274945709190867&type=3

Well, good luck.

I suggest you throw that silly diffuser away and buy a real flash and preferably a bracket to raise it well above the camera.

Go to the library and check out every book on wedding photography.

If you are so inclined, alternate studying the books with heavy doses of prayer. :-)

The Captain is "spot on" but prayer may not even work......try hiring a wedding photographer and follow him/her around.

A wedding is a worship service.......the photographer should be both "not seen and not heard" but yet you are expected to get "the shots". Depending on the Church and time of the wedding, ambient light may be ok with your cameras......but be prepared to shoot at high ISOs, 3200 and bring fast lens.

Don't shoot tight! Leave room for cropping.... Wide angle lens are unflattering for group shots.......get back and use the compression your longer lens offer. The list of advice can go on and on....but experience, esp working with a good wedding photographer would be invaluable. See if you can't shadow a wedding photog between now and your shoot. Do several if you can.

For the record, you don't have a flash......the pop up's on those cameras are as useless as tits on a male hog.

Good advice.

As a "helper" what is the main photographer expecting from you,,and is he aware of your equipment limitations??

My helper is usually setting up, tearing down and hauling equipment (strobes, umbrellas, stands). Have you shared your ideas with the main photographer yet? At most, you should be taking a few candids, and remember to stay behind (out of the shots) for the main photographer.

I don't mean to sound cruel, but since it's your first wedding and you have been asked to help, your primary goals should be helping, observing and learning, not taking photos.

yes i am helping out, it is her first wedding also so she asked me to be there and take photos also just in case she missed something

Umm... I hope that when you say "helping out" it means you're not the main shooter. If that's the case it could be a great learning opportunity for you.

Weddings make me the most nervous, and I've been in the photography business for over 30 years.

BTW-That pop up flash can still cause redeye, even with the diffuser.

oh no, its fine i understand, i am not the best when it comes to vocabulary or english for that matter :(

honestly i couldnt think of another way to word "low income" without it sounding harsh, our family was also hit pretty big in the financial state, that is another reason why i have started trying to make more money with my hobby. i am very new to all the buisness side of things up until now it was just a fun hobby.

Forgive me for putting in my 2 cents' worth but I have to admit that a well-written website shows professionalism and encourages me to spend my money there. There are many instances of incorrect English on your site that diminish your artist's image and fortunately, that's avoidable. Perhaps you'd want to consider also changing the wording of "low income" and not referring to people losing their jobs, etc. It feels harsh to me (maybe because I am one of those who's taken a financial hit and don't like to feel someone's being condescending or patronizing). There are other ways to word it to let potential customers know that you're a good-hearted person who's willing to work things out with them so they can afford something special that you're offering.
Just some thoughts of mine---please take them in the spirit of helpfulness in which they're offered, ok? I wish you every success![/quote]

i found a website that let me enbed a new contact page, i used white BG and black text, hope that it looks better

Looking better. You still need to change the text colors on your contact page. Also, it is possible to center the nav bar on your home page? It would increase the symmetry. And to tell you the truth, I'd drop the Bravenet Calendar. They're an OK service, I've actually been a member there for several years, but their free calendar is just too full of third-party pop up ads. If you ever get so busy that your potential clients actually have to book you weeks in advance, you'll be able to afford a real calendar.

~You've got five different typefaces on your home page, not including the title graphic. The navigation bar is one, the little "welcome" paragraph is two, the word "Thanks" is three, and then the "Calendar of Availability" is four, and the blurb at the bottom in blue for iPage is five. Not good.

~I would move the counter down to the very bottom. No one needs to see that junk smack in the middle of the home page. Or get rid of it entirely. Page counts are simply not useful measures anymore.

i changed all the fonts to be the same on the homepage, however i cannot change the ipage link :(. i also removed the counter

wow, that was a lot, but thank you for being so honst, i am new to the website building and the buisness side of things so a little helpful critism is just fine to me, if you have any other suggestions i would be very glad to hear them, i do want to be successful, but not sound "desperate" as you put it :)

~On your contact page, use a brighter color for your text. Grey on black is for Myspace 12 year olds...

~You don't need a "Photo Gallery" and a "Photo Gallery New". Just have one gallery, and put the newer photos at the top. Would a potential customer care if a sample photo is from yesterday or last year? Probably not.

~On your "Packages" page, remove the entire paragraph about not being a professional. If you find yourself having to apologize for your work, you're in the wrong profession. It's fine to say something like "Your satisfaction is guaranteed" or "We're not happy until YOU'RE happy", but don't apologize, or tell a potential customer "I only do this for spare change and to buy new equipment". That really sounds pathetic.

~Get rid of the blue, orange and purple text colors on the "Packages" page. There's a reason books and newspapers are printed in black on white.

I'm sorry if I sound like a crabby old SOB but I've designed websites since about 1990 and taught college courses in FrontPage and Dreamweaver, so I kinda know what I'm talking about. Plus, you asked. :)

If you want to be a Professional, your site has to look like you are.

You need not to short change yourself or your abilities. So on your page for Packages, I rewrote how I thought you should write it given the words I had to work with. You may take it for what it is worth. I just think you need to be more positive in order to sell yourself.

My prices are comparable around my location. I am a semi-professional, and do this mainlyas a hobby to earn some extra income to help pay for equipment, resources, and my time. I am trying to get my name recognized and known in the photography world. With some companies you go to, you can afford to go to studio and get professional pictures done, but then you only get 1 or 2 poses. I offer you several poses and different edits for half the price. So please consider contacting me about setting up a session.

Normal Package Price $100.00**
Includes, but is not limited to:
• Maximum 2 hours
• Up to 2 locations (travel time not included in 2 hours ; unless (here you should specify distance)
• Include up to 4 people
• Each additional person is $5.00 extra
• 30 customized edits
• 5 Custom Collages
• A disc of the entire session and edits $20.00

thank you for your compliments :)
since i first made a screen name i have always used dragonqt... i chose it bc it was something unique that described me, i was born in 88 which is the year of the "dragon" and me strological sign is "Aries" so thats why i have chosen that name, i do understand your head shop concern though but, thank goodness you are the only one that has mentioned that lol

Your photography is really lovely and the website is easy on the eyes and easily navigated. All good. My only question is the business name. "Dragon-aries" makes me think of a "head shop" (if you're old enough to remember those!). lol
