Sorry to burst bubbles, but totally not true. Tom Hanks' dad was a cook, and no one in the Diamonds ever heard of him.

Don't forget that a large majority of pro photographers on the sidelines of major sporting events are using glass that is LOANED to them by the manufacturers, or is owned by the media they work for. Canon has a wide ranging, flexible, and quite well known marketing arm that sees to it that any credentialed photographer that's got an end zone pass for an NFL game has pretty much any lens he or she wants. If a photographer is on assignment from SI or some similar print rag, chances are that he or she is using glass that's not his or hers to own. Which is why, when they get bowled over by Marshawn Lynch in the end zone and their stuff goes flying, they don't stand there and cry at the 1200mm lens in pieces at their feet.. :)

If we are looking at O'Reilly, let's first remember that he is just like any of these talking heads. He's infotainment. <snip> It's an opinion show. <snip>
There is a difference between an opinion, and a lie. That's the problem with O'Reilly, or any of the rest of them that LIE, rather than give an opinion based on analysis of the facts. When LIES become OPINIONS, we're all in trouble. For example, it's the right's OPINION that Obama is a practicing Muslim. Fine. Opinions don't always need to be based on fact. Many are not. But if a talking head says, "Obama is a Muslim", that's at best an incorrect statement, and at worst a lie designed to enrage the populace. That's the left's problem with O'Reilly. He appears to LIE to appease his audience, and get them all fired up. Generally, people on the left lie to make themselves look good, people on the right lie to make others look bad. And, as Lily Tomlin often said, "and that's the t***h."

They go in the trunk.

+3 - NVidea makes a very well thought of GPU (Graphics Processing Unit, or chip). They also keep their drivers updated fairly regularly. Make sure you use a decent monitor or the GPU's power will be wasted.

Hummm.. 5 pages, a huge number of responses in the "I use only XXXXX brand, and it's fine" category, an evenly divided camp re: Science Diet, Iams, Beneful, Purina, and Blue Buffalo.

Bottom Line: Feed your pets food that they evolved eating. Dogs do not eat corn or carrots. Cats do not eat wheat or rice or peas. As carnivores, they need a protein based diet. Too many people buy food for their dogs and cats that looks good for THEM to eat, not the animals. You think Pet Food marketers don't know that?

Hell, my dogs eat $40-a-bag stuff from PFD and then go out and gobble up yesterday's frozen turds, and dead birds that cats kill.

I don't use Beneful, but I'll wait to see the results of the investigation. Just because they're being sued does not mean the basis for the suit is sound. I need to see real evidence, not Google University citings.

Nice collection of fairly well colorized photos. Too bad whoever wrote the captions was barely literate. I counted half a dozen spelling errors.

With an average winter temperature of -30°, you have to wonder why 300,000 people live in the capital of the region that claims to have the coldest town on earth.

http://boredomtherapy.com/coldest-town-on-earth/

The only flaw in this report is the population figure. Not sure where they got 300K people but they sure as hell aren't in Omyakon.

Other web sites list the town's permanent pop as around 500, which seems a bit more likely. There's no way in hell 300,000 people could live in that place.

But it IS cold.

Yeah - I bought one of the early TRS-80s with the cassette interface, a 40-column black and white monitor, and all that. It was a little unfair to call them "trash-80s", compared to most of the rest of the market they were professionally built, not just a bunch of ICs and ribbon cables soldered to an old board. I learned rudimentary RS Basic and what a database was. Within about a year or so, I'd be hired by Dun & Bradstreet and was IPL'ing an IBM 4300 in the Phila School District building so I could load our DBMS software on it.

I still have an old BYTE mag from the introduction of the IBM PC (August 1981), and a 5 megabyte "Winchester" hard drive was $5,000. With cable.
