A little WD-40 applied with a cotton swab and a coin held in a pair of pliers did the job. Battery compartment was surprisingly clean. Next problem is a "locked" film advance lever. Mirror is stuck in locked-up position but can be released by the level in the lens box. Pressing the shutter release pops it back up.
Thanks, I would appreciate a very quick primer on the various lens afflictions. Have no idea how to identify haze, fungus, separation or cleaning scratches.
OM-4 battery compartment is in the camera base plate. Cover is a round button with coin slot for opening. Door is no problem.
Thanks.
While examining an older lens, I noticed a mark that shows from the rear only. It is a fine line that appears to be an ellipse that forms near the edge for about 270 degrees. It is not concentric with the lens edge and does not look like a cleaning mark. I suspect not much impact on image quality, but am curious about it. Is the defect major enough to disclose in an EBAY sale item description?
Anyone got a safe way to open a "stuck" battery compartment cover on an Olympus OM-4? My fingers with a coin are not enough leverage.
I found this after posting my question:
AIC (RIC)
Allied Impex Corporation imported Miranda cameras to the USA from almost the first model, and became the owner of Miranda Camera Co. during the time of the Model F ( 1963). The company also owned Soligor, so that the fortunes and distribution of both Miranda and Soligor became linked from that time. Eventually, when AIC folded, Miranda Camera Company also ceased to exist. Most of the later models in the USA market carry the "AiC" tag or sticker, but this is not necessarily the case in European or other markets.
In vintage Miranda Auto Sensorex RIC EE, what does "RIC" mean?
Tried a normal zoom and 50mm f1.4 on my PEN and was suprised how easy it was to get back to the basics: manual focus and aperature priority. Slower zoom was evident on the lcd screen immediately. Great tool for the student.
I am not expecting any "real" connection of film lens and digital camera beyond the "physical" connection though non-electrical adapters. I am expecting aperature-priority and full manual focus. "Auto" anything is out the window.
