Are they more friendly or used to humans? I can hardly spot one here in Florida
I think I have seen Him/Her 3 times in the past 9 years! Maybe he is the same one, maybe he's not. But I always see him after a family member screams; I have to stop her from screaming (we have a sunroom with glass windows that mutes all sound) and I run for my camera, any of my cameras to see if I can take a few photographs... I was excited, to say the least. My hands were trembling... Took one picture with one camera, the card couldn't hold the next one so I ran to my office... grabbed another camera's card, inserted it in the camera that I wanted to use... and I could finally take 4 so-so photos. She got a whole 2-3 minutes video in the meanwhile, which I a envy. (I don't like video, wastes too much space). So here they are.
It is always a solitary one and they get away quickly. First time I saw one I was standing on the dock and he surfaced, got surprised by my presence and went down quickly. First glance!
Thank you. I have stopped taken photos of friends because of her. She poses...here is a hide-and-seek situation.
Adopted.
Had 6-9 months when arriving
Brisk and temperamental.
Asks to be taken to the ya room and watches the sinsets like a philosopher in deep thoughts.
This is unprocessed, taken with canon powershot SX720.my substitute for all my DSLRs.
Another version with blacked out background will be added later, from my desktop.PC
I am waiting for an offer, not particularly interested on how one can use it since I didn't notice any problem other than creep on the less. There must be somebody that can use it. It is still on sale on eBay and photographic stores.. I suppose the average forum member is buying expensier lenses and have better cameras than I had, but I am getting old, people. Make an offer I cannot resist!
I used it with a T2i and a 50D. Now I only have the T2i. On one of the first references above by 47greyfox specifies a "C" on the model name, so this is not that same model. (
http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Sigma-18-200mm-f-3.5-6.3-DC-Macro-OS-HSM-Lens.aspx )
Since I bought it some time ago (2-3 years), there must have been some new variations of the lens. Here are some details 1) manual 2) box
that could clarify any information you may need, or not, I know the bare minimum about lenses so I can buy them properly for the cameras I use, so I fear I don't have the vast knowledge you may have to answer most of your "techie" questions.
Here they are:
I see that some of the references provided have a "C" on the model name... and some of the photos don't have the red ring,
I don't think the lens I am showing is that exact lens without the red ring, or with the "C" in the name.
Answering the question, I have used it with two cameras; the Canon T2i and the 50D.
It cost me much more than $280.
I don't have a lot of technical knowledge about this lens. As I said, I have not used it a lot.
Maybe I can find the manual. It was bought new and is not more than 3 years old.

I like mine. It's light and compact. Take really sharp pictures. And buying it won't break the bank, at least mine didn't. I have used it for everything this week in Colorado.
Ken
I would love to see some pics with the lens.

Do you have any issue with lens creep?
Yes, it does. I haven't used it that much so I don't know how cumbersome that can be.It has a "lock" switch on the side I think keeps it at the position that you want.
Wow! I forgot that! For Canon.
This is a pristine lens with little if no use.
Mostly kept in a camera bag, non-smoking home, no mishandling.
You can see it is as if taken out of the original box
I have hood somewhere, maybe original box.

Greatly appreciate your polite comments.
Is the Sx30 still worth keeping or should one get an SX50?
The only thing I don't like about these camera is the slow zooming; you loose your target most of the time.
