Hello. Can someone link me to a post that may already be on here about run and gun settings for a DSLR video shoot? Audio is not going to be an issue as there will be music tracks overlaying the video. I've been asked by an auto body shop to come and shoot some clips at their place and make a 30-45 second motivational video for them. I will be moving around the shop taking various shots so I just need to know what my settings should stay at consistently. I plan to shoot at 60fps so I can slow it down in post but wanted see how far I can get away with setting my ISO before it starts to get grainy. I want to open my aperture all the way and the only prime lens I have are a f1.8 nifty-fifty 50mm, f4 16-35mm wide lens, f2.8 70-210mm zoom lens. The wide lens as of now is going to be the best option to shoot in the body shop as there is not much room to move around for a zoom lens or to capture everything with the nifty-fifty. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

Think about it....

While it makes sense to auto adjust the flash coverage to match the lens focal length when the flash is "on camera"... It doesn't make sense to do the same when the flash is off-camera and being remotely triggered. The remotely triggered flash's coverage requirement is likely quite different. Depending upon where the remote flash is located in relation to the subject, it could be right or it could be wrong for the off-camera flash to emulate the coverage of the on-camera flash. The remote triggering systems have no way of judging what's correct, so leave it to you to manually set the coverage for the off-camera flash. The "safest" manual coverage setting of the off-camera flash would be its widest, unless that causes underexposure problems. (This is different from the system handling exposure TTL.... To accomplish that, all that's needed is a low power pre-flash and meter reading, that's then used to adjust the power of the flash.)

Thank you. Appreciate it.

Thanks. I have pocket wizards as well packed in storage and may have to start bringing that with me if that’s the only route to get my TTL to start working.

Hello everyone. If there is a topic on this can someone forward it to me? I couldn't find anything related to my issue on the search tab. Anyway, I have a yongnuo 600ex-rt speedlight and a trigger. I've already figured out how to sync them together using manual mode which is my preference but I want to make sure I am able to transition to ETTL if necessary depending on the event. I had mirrored everything to ETTL on both trigger as my master and speedlight as the slave. For the most part the speedlight and trigger are in sync and does fire when taking my shot. The concern is that whether I zoom in or out on the camera or even move my speedlight back and forth, the zoom on the speedlight is fixed and doesn't change unless I manually change it. I've tried to troubleshoot it using manual zoom or automatic but it still won't adjust the zoom to how I am moving the camera. However, it only works if I attach the speedlight on the camera itself. Please let me know if there is a step that needs to be corrected on the trigger or the speedlight. Thanks for your assistance.

I completely agree with you on having full mastery. I wouldn’t say I’m a full master at it but have played around in all areas to know what looks good. I did already tell this couple my background experience as an amateur photographer and since this is a TFP shoot, we had all come to an agreement about the outcome of this photoshoot.

Thanks for the input but there will be no HMUA.

No. Nothing like that but I already forwarded these folks that they are more than welcome to take their shots to someone who is an expert at retouching. I’m just there to give them the best shots possible.

Hello. I’ve been asked to take some head and body shots of actors for their resume in the entertainment industry. They are a couple that plan to have 6 wardrobes each to change into. Background is a simple black and white backdrop. Nothing fancy. I plan to use a 3-lighting indoor set-up provided by the studio I will be using. With prep time and wardrobe changes with simple poses, I’m trying to figure out how much studio time will I need. Right now I’m thinking 3 hours but I plan not to waste time and just get right to it. Is this timeline about right with 2 people?

Need help on how to fix the colors on my shots. I have a canon 7d with 16-35mm f/4L wide lens. I thought I had white balanced correctly and took some shots of people that were static outdoors on a bright sunny day. All the exposures came out great but noticed in post through Lightroom they were all green. Anyway to fix this?
