I'm wondering if anyone out there knows the correct combination of key strokes to employ in order to resize (or stretch) a texture within an image being edited in Photoshop Elements 9. I use a Mac, and thanks in advance for the help!
Joyfullee, I can tell that you're catching on to the invaluable use of the histogram here, but I would suggest hopping over to Amazon and looking up Sean Arbabi's "Better Photo Guide to Exposure". It's a wonderful book that will help you understand (once and for all) how to integrate the visual cues of a histogram with the mental cues of experience in the field.
Buying a grey card is nice, but I agree with Ken Rockwell when he stresses the importance of simplicity in the field. Learn what colors and situations present themselves as about 18% "grey" from the book, and you'll be delighted with how much better your pictures turn out!
Hi Tracie,
I would highly suggest the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4, or better yet (for true portraiture) the 85mm f/1.8. These are the standard lengths of lens for professionals all over the world.
Hi Carmen,
The best option for you would be to have Smugmug host your site! If you pay the $20 per month fee, you get all the benefits of Pro status (read Smugmug for more info), plus the ability to price and sell prints of every imaginable size. Check out
www.lightpostphotography.com for an example. And BTW, Smugmug collaborates with two of the leading print companies in the nation: BayPhoto and MPix. The quality is absolutely top-rate.
Hello JoelS, I'm going to recommend that you NOT get a light meter, but instead run to your nearest Barnes & Noble and pick up an invaluable book called "The Better Photo Guide to Exposure", by Sean Arbabi. I've learned so much and you will, too!
Oh man, there's really no question when considering a length of this size and weight: you absolutely MUST go for the IS! I'm saving for one of these, as well, and if we're spending this much, it's gotta be image stabilized.
