I have never formatted any of my SD cards and some I've had for 9 years. I just either cut or copy the pics off of them and paste them in my computer. Cut if I'm just putting them on my notebook or copy when I'm giving them to my wife for her edits or enjoymemt. They're formatted at the factory so why bother doing it again and again and again. The only time I would format one is if I have a problem with it and so far I haven't.
I've been in the computer business for 24 years and have heard plenty of those old wive's tales. Believe me, just cut your data when copying it to a machine or delete them if they stay on the card. Reformatting them is just waste of time unless you have problems with it.

Good to read your reply as I do the same as you! One does not reformat the hard drive every time you delete a file.
You made this image unique - love it!
These are wonderful photos of wonderful children!
I like this shot. Nothing wrong with the composition. That being said, it is a bit underexposed and a little soft. Did you use a tripod?
Thanks Dan. I have two good cameras - the Olympus OMD - EM1 which has image stablization and the Sony A7 without image stablization. The Olympus is much more forgiving if you don't use a tripod but I know now that the Sony A7 is not. I have a new tripod now!!! The answer to your question is that I did not use a tripod!
just on holidays - no time - thanks for the encouragement though.
A suggestion was made about photographing at a different time of day. I've found this tool to be quite helpful in predicting full moon rises behind specific sections of the Columbia SC skyline ... it may help others too. I think that I've located the approximate spot in Calgary ... and hope that the link holds that information. (it looks like you have to copy the link since the auto link generator in this interface cuts it off at the first comma. So highlight the whole line ... copy and paste into your browser ...

This site is very fascinating and helpful as it enables one to look at the appearance of natural light. I drove 25 klicks to the city to take this particular image and wasn't sure if there would be any natural light as it was such a dismal day. I could have checked with The Photographer's Ephemeris to find the best light for the day. This will be helpful. Thank you for sharing.
That s an interesting idea. Thanks. With the strong backlighting, is this a good candidate for a 3 exposure HDR???
These are constructive comments. I do appreciate them. Thank you for your comments.
I thought it was a hollyhock as well and they grow quit tall. I too remember them growing up against the yellow stucco house when I was also a kid!
Great Capture of the angry goose!
She is a sweetie for sure!
My favorite is #2. Two great pictures.
