The more I read about it the more I question my approach when it comes to the information retained in the light area.

The theory goes (That I have accepted and now question) is that more data is preserved in the dark than in the light.

A. Adams zone system presents another vision and interpretation that challenges theory and really seems to be more accurate when PPeing.

What are your thoughts and experience on that particular subject?

Hi Rongnongno. I am also currently attempting to educate myself in these topics and ran into something that you might find useful? Thanks Mercer! The next thing I would really like to learn about is light! As an ex-lithohgrapher I understand all the efforts of light pigmentation compared to pigment colours, for instance red, blue green to yellow, cyan, magenta; but how do you make the two concepts merge in your pic?!

Mercer, just asking mate, as I'm also trying to learn from instamatics! But been learning a lot from you guys about DOF and hyperfocal distances and just seems that if you follow the guidelines set out there, coupled to rule of thirds, you should be pretty ok if you keep the apperture triangle in focus?!

Indeed! Which, if converted from thou's to inches to miles, would give you more than the distance to the sun! Won plenty of beers from the appies on that!!

Jerry, fascinating as that article may be, as an ex-lithographer, I maintain the max is 7 times on a 4thou or bible sheet! But, if you could fold it 50 times, how high would that piece of paper stand?!

Now start playing with powers of and root figures! How many times can a piece of paper be folded in half type of thing!
