Excellent products and customer service. I have several of their products (tripod, monopod, ball heads, gimbal, etc.) and all are very high quality.
I use a Kata for my 600mm, f/4 which seems to work pretty well, certainly for the distances you're talking about. I've heard the Lowe brand is good as well. Either beats beats slinging a tripod, lens and camera over your shoulder.
The inland passage is very nice, especially if you're lucky enough to hit some decent weather. Another thought: if you find yourself in Anchorage, take the railroad to Fairbanks, very scenic. But whatever you do, don't miss Denali.
