A perfect picture is the one that brings a tear to a Great Grandma's eye when she sees her first great granddaughter off to prom. A perfect picture is the one the Father of the Bride requested to be buried with since it was with his favorite daughter at the altar when they cried together. A perfect picture is the one where you get the smile and hug from Mom because her son has become a man before her eyes in that 8x10 that you hand her. A perfect picture is what that person sees in it. I have had three according to the people I gave them too and I was originally going to delete them since I thought they were not my best and one I thought was down right ugly!

It could not be stated better.
That being said, you do need to learn the "Rule of Thirds", you can Google it and I don't have to explain. When I first learned it, it still took a while to get it into my head, now I remember almost all the time. Beautiful pics other wise, but you had a good subject and that helps.

I have always liked watching Birds and trying to capture the right photographs that enhance their beauty. please let me know what I need to do to make these images better. thanks

I like the third photo. Looks like he's doing a swan dive into the flower. The first too have questionable composure. The main subject appears dead center in the frame.

The last one is the best, a nice use of the rule of thirds, the others are centered and that doesn't draw me to the subject. Other than that, they are good shots. The DoF is great, they are sharp and well focused. I like hummingbirds, they make great subjects.

You need more contrast, pump up the saturation and a hair trim on a tripod.

I do wish I had my tripod with me that day but was just an outing to take grand kids someplace cool, got some shots of the kids though. Thanks for the ideas. 8-)

Beautiful falls, I love waterfalls and ya'll have some nice ones in Tennessee as we do here in Arkansas. My lady's dad has a book listing all of the waterfalls in AR. and he is gonna let me borrow it, then I intend to get them all.

1. grab a (white) sheet and put it over the window to diffuse the light. I'd also put a large with board or piece of paper between you and the dog to bounce light back at the dog.

The white sheet is a good idea and the white board between you and the dog should take the shadows out. I think I'd try that and see if you don't get what you are looking for. They are some nice pics and a cute subject.

Now take into account the haze over the water, this creek comes off the bottom of a dam and the water temp is about 40 degrees while the air is 90+

Thanks for the suggestions.

Don't see a way to delete one of these, they doubled up. Sorry

What do ya'll think of these pictures of the waterfalls at the head of Collins Creek, Greers Ferry Lake, North Arkansas.

As far as the settings for these pictures, they were all taken before I started keeping a photo log so I am unsure. They were taken with a Cannon Rebel T1i and a Cannon EFS 18-55mm lens with image stabilizer.

I do know that this was taken with a slower shutter speed than most because I got the milky white effect on the falls.

Hi gang, I am actually Brad. I have been taking pictures for years but just about 6 months ago bought my first "real" camera. It's a Canon Rebel T1i. I really like it, it's not my first canon, I have had point & shoot camera up until now. I am starting an online photography course and hope I get a lot better. I am a Christian who loves Jesus and the little lady, Shanna. Hope to get to know some of ya'll better over the next few months. 8-)
