The price I was quoted was for two lens, one wide angle and one zoom for tot of $500 dollars.the 250 price is the cost of the fz70 camera. So lens or camera. One u borrow the other u own.

I have several 16+ gig memory cards for the trip and will be able to sync them to a surface pro 4 using the wireless function of the Nikon Coolpix. I Always buy one or two spare batteries. I looked at the FZ80 but it is $400 and I would rather invest the $150 Diff in a good tripod. The plan for after the trip is to give the FZ70 to my wife and try to get her more involved with Photography. Both are about to retire and I like to have a Photog buddy.

Thanks For the input

I currently have a Canon T3I w/ 128 gig Scandisk Extreme card, Canon 18-55 mm IS & 55-250 mm IS set of lenses w/ Circular Polarizing filter when needed. I am heading to Alaska in late Aug 28 and early Sept 12, starting out on a 6 day cruise from Vancouver ending in Anchorage (Whittier), ports (Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay Nat. Park, College Fjord, Anchorage) Taking Dome train to Denali Back Country Lodge for 3 days and then on to Fairbanks by Dome Train. Our last excursion will be to take a flight out to the Artic Circle and then drive back & stop at a small camp n hopes of seeing the Northern lights (Bucket list Item & why we are going so late in the season).

My question is should I rent a 150 -600 Mm Lens and a Wide Angle lens, 21 day rental is around $500-600 or should I purchase a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ70 16.1 MP 60x zoom Bridge camera ( $249)? It has no filters but I have Photoshop CC.

Also any recommendations for a good Travel Tripod /w monopod for between $150 and $250. All I have is the Kit Aluminum Tripod.

I will also be taking a Ape Case, Weekender Backpack / Bag (ACPRO1720W), a Nikon Coolpix s7000 16meg P&S & my wife will be using a Sony Cyber shot 12 Meg P&S. I am looking to get it all, Landscape, Wildlife, and Nighttime photographs. Any info / advice on where to take pictures in the ports and what other hardware I might consider taking with us would be appreciated.

Thanks

If the zoo isn't the best place in the world, I don't know what is. I live in Point Loma, a minute from OB and the cliffs. Can't wait to see the rest of your photos.

Here are some of the Cliffs and Point Loma Photos.

You have some really nice shots. Looks like a nice place. I wonder why Jimmy Buffett doesn't want to land there? :) (parrot head humor)

Thanks. Maybe he doesn't like the Mayor either!

Very nice pictures! Must have been a great trip.

The first 4 days were business and last three days were a 16th Wedding Anniversary trip. We loved Sunset Cliffs and the Zoo. My wife really liked Old Town and Coronado Island. The San Diego area is a beautiful place. The photos do not do it justice.

Thanks
Al

Great photos. I live here. Check out alliegraphics.com. Did you go to the zoo? And what about LaJolla? I'm originally from the east coast and have been living in Southern CA for 20+ years and am still amazed over its beauty.

We are from the southeast and we were amazed too. Just posted some Zoo photos as well. We did make it to LaJolla, Torrey Pines, SunSet Cliffs, Point Loma, Mount Cabrillo Monument. Those photos to be posted later.

Thanks for the nice comments.

I spent a week in San Diego and loved it. I took these cityscapes photos from Coronado Island. I have lots more photos of the area and will post some of what I think are the better ones in the next couple of days.
