The Osprey season in Scotland now draws to a close, the fledglings have fledged and the migration to southern europe will start soon, I took these 4 successive shots early in the morning.
Looking forward to their return spring of next year.

I have used a gimbal on a monopod but I don't recommend it. All you need on a monopod is a tilt function since you can rotate the monopod freely. The extra weight of a gimbal doesn't buy you anything.

So if I lock the rotate function on the Gimble Head and just leave the tilt function free then I would imagine that would be a similar thing? A bit overkill using a Gimble Head I suppose but at least I would get more use out of it by using the Gimble with both tripod and monopod.

Hi all, I have trolled through the search results for using a gimble head on a monopod and the results are pretty scarce on this combo. Plenty of results on gimbles and plenty on tripods or monopods

I have a Nikon D7100 with a Sigma 150-500 lens and Benro GH2 Gimble head. I use this combo on a tripod when sitting in a hide shooting wildlife mainly birds like Kingfishers, so my subject is often stationary with minimal movement as well as quick sudden movement. I also like to shoot motor sports and aircraft displays

My question is: Has anybody experienced any problems with the combo of large telephoto or prime lens and Benro GH2 Gimble head or any main J type Gimble head? I think this combo would suit me best whilst moving around because when walking around as I would prefer the monopod to a heavy tripod.

thank you

I have just returned from a trip 124 miles inside the Arctic Circle where we stayed in the Abisko National Park in Swedish Lapland. We had gone there to view, experience and photograph the Aurora Borealis (Northern lights). We had previously been twice to Iceland to complete our quest and tick off our bucket list and both times we were unsuccessful due to cloudy weather.
But not this time, in temperatures of -25 and some of the clearest skies I was fortunate to get some good shots of the Northern Lights.

I used a Nikon D7100 with a Nikon 18-200mm lens, most images were taken at 10-15 secs, with the lens wide open at F3.5 and ISO 1600.

I am fortunate to live in an area of natural beauty where the Red Kite has been reintroduced after its near extinction.
The Red Kite is known in the UK as one of our most beautiful birds of prey with its colours of chestnut brown/red, black, white and grey markings.
I have shown 3 of my images of the Red Kite here in my home town in Buckinghamshire, England

By joining 2 or more different images together like this is called a composite, and well done for your creation, I like it.
