Bobbee, Treepusher ~ thank you.

jonsommer This is a B&W conversion but I agree her neck is a little darker, it was washed before the shoot, honest!

I may well have been a little too enthusiastic with the final burning in that area,

Thank you all for the comments. I am not a fan of 'over-photo-shopped' skin but it seems to work here.

I don't post on here that often but this one insisted on coming here. Who am I to resist ?

Sometimes the image seems to lead the editing

No apology needed for your shots...very good. And kudos to the handlers for giving her a great experience. :)

Her expressions when the bird handlers appreciated her lack of vision and allowed a closer contact for her were so moving.
These were shot on the fly with an 85mm lens on my Canon600D. Sadly time did not allow for more considered posing or composition.

Very nice, my favorite is the last one, good lighting, detail and pose.

Thank you, my comments elsewhere may throw light on his pose/appearance.

Interesting group of portraits, I am most drawn to the last one and number three probably because the poses are more genuine looking. However. In the others, either the finger gets in the way of me really liking it or the pp, or the crop or the shadow of his glasses, or a combination of those distract me. In number two, his hands, especially, look really greasy and the skin on his face is too shiney, combined with the dirt under his fingernails, makes him look like a homeless guy with poor personal hygiene habits. I think that expression and lighting are the two most important elements in portraiture and in numbers three and five you nailed it. Good job.

Thanks for the comments. Homeless is not but, at the time of the shoot, he was waiting for the appointment schedule for a course of radiotherapy. This no doubt contributes to his appearance.

IN the last shot, he almost looks like "the most interesting man in the world"

Wonder what beer he drinks?

To the best of my knowledge he does not drink alcohol.

SO tilt them down a bit? like raise the arms up on the ears?

Just that. This guy tended to slide them down his nose a little to look over the top as in one here. But when the frame is tight to the top of the nose raising the ear pieces does the trick.

Very interesting! I'm drawn to the second and third images the most. I'm not crazy about his one finger on his lips in the others...not sure why. I also feel like the images with his shirt on work the best with that setting. It's hard to capture a portrait like this with the person wearing glasses, but you nailed it!
What PP software do you use?
By the way...in the last shot, he looks like he could be an author and use that image on his book jacket!

Thank you, tilting a model's glasses while looking for reflections is what I do. Using a one light set up makes this easier.
