He already had made quite a few movies before he made the ALAMO. STAGECOACH was the one that made him a star in the A movies.
This is a photo of the Alamo built for the filming of John Wayne's filming of "The Alamo" in 1959. It is located on 600 acres of ranch land in South Texas called Alamo Village. Several other movies have used this set for filming. It was open to the public until 2010. I took this photo two weeks before it closed to the public. Hopes had been high that the site would be purchased by a group that would open it again as a theme park but this has never happened.
Sat., Jan. 27th an auction of all the wagons, movie props and museum will be held. A sad day for all of us that hoped the site could be maintained as a historical place to visit,

Outstanding image, Longhorn! Perfect lighting!
Thanks sailorsmom. Your opinion means a lot to me.
Beautiful shots. You certainly know how to use that 300mm lens.

Very nice shot, Longhorn. If it were mine, I'd try to lighten the rose a bit in PP.
Thanks for your comments, rmm0605.
I download every one of your photos and always feel I am standing at the exact spot you took the photos. Thanks.
