Very nice images. The bokeh and sharpness in #3 is outstanding!

I've tried extension tubes with fairly good success, but mine were the cheapo type, but served me well for experimentation. You might also want to give a reversing ring a try. They have some limitations, but can produce some remarkably sharp images, depending on the lens you reverse.

When I finally decided that I wanted to get serious about macro photography, I finally bit the bullet and bought a couple of true macro (1:1) lenses. I understand that "true macro" can be and quite often is far beyond 1:1, but that's about as far as I wanted to go.

thank you Dewman, not only for your complement on my captures but also for sharing your experience. I have done a small amount of reading on the reverse ring but I have been a little afraid to give it a try. Sounds like you found your niche with the macro lens, alas I will have to be happy with my Opeka cheapo! :)....maybe one of these days!!!

Beautiful shots, G! Excellent work with your new extension tubes. The first one looks like a cypress vine bloom, but I'm not sure.

Thanks Dixiegirl!! I think you are probably right about the bloom, I looked it up on google and had to make a choice between the wild red morning glory and the cypress vine. The only reason I picked the wild red morning glory was because of the leaves. They really are pretty little tiny flowers that overtake our vegetable garden every year. So glad you stopped by!! :)

a really nice series. What brand of extension tube are you using? Been thinking of getting a set, just haven't got around to it yet. Love the color in the middle pic.

Thank you for looking and for your nice comment. Take a look at this: http://www.amazon.com/Opteka-Focus-Extension-Digital-Cameras/dp/B00A403ZA8. My tube is a Opteka and was a gift from my daughter. Go for it!!

Dugllagher, thank you for the two thumbs up!! The extension tube I used is a Opetak DG...very inexpensive!!! Bit of a learning curve but fun, fun, fun!!!

These guys really enjoy each other's company when they have the chance. Playing looks rougher than it is, but it's all in good fun.

The taller chestnut and bay are Thoroughbreds off of the track. The smaller chestnut with the higher tail carriage is an Anglo-Arabian whose mother was thoroughbred and whose father was Arabian.

love!!!
